The irony is that when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet his hands became clean also; when Pilate washed his own hands they forever become stained with the blood of Jesus Christ.

_David L. Kemp, Good Friday Message | April 4, 2015

Interestingly there are two basins included in the events surrounding the death of Jesus Christ.

The first was when Jesus, knowing that they would all abandon him, washed the feet of his disciples and the second was when Pilate, knowing Jesus was innocent, washed his hands (literally) of the whole matter and turned Jesus over to the executioner to be crucified.

The ONE THING for today: Jesus’s death on the cross is no small thing. Recorded in the annuals of history, remembered every year for century upon century…it is a call to every generation to make a decision about Jesus. He does not allow neutrality.

When I saw the picture I included with this blog I thought of the lyrics from a precious hymn from my childhood – “Oh a hill far away…”
