Hi guys! Question, Im struggling a bit with wrapping my head around 1 Thess 4:13-18 Where it talks about “The dead in Christ will rise first.” Can you guys give me insight to this? Thank you?

? that passage is saying that those who died n Christ…the believers..will be raised up out of their graves..how that will happen is their spirit will be put back in their body..the reason for that is so they can..as well as we who are alive in Christ..can then put on a glorified body. That right there..although so many will n wanna dispute it..is what is called the rapture. Although the word rapture is not written there..but instead u see CAUGHT UP..if u do the research on the word in Latin..raptus..means to seize…when u seize something u take it, it becomes ones property. I’m aware that there are rebuttals coming..lol..but again..I’m ok with agreeing to disagree.,but to answer ur previous question.. yes it will happen as the Bible says. Be blessed. ?❤️??

When Jesus returns those who are born again believers whom have died will be resurrected along with those alive will be raptured and together we will meet the Lord in the air and our bodies changed into eternal bodies

Kayhana Nicholé Woods, great question. Before identifying the “dead in Christ,” we should note the context in which this phrase is found. The immediate context is 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, which deals with the question of what will happen at the return of the Lord Jesus. Paul’s readers were concerned that when Christ returns, those who have died prior to then would somehow miss out. The primary purpose of this passage is to comfort those believers who have lost believing loved ones.
The message of this passage is a message of hope. Christians have hope that unbelievers do not have when they lose loved ones. There is hope beyond the grave for Christians, and part of that hope is at the return of Christ, those who have already died “will rise first.” After that, Christians who are still alive will be transformed. Both groups will be “caught up” and will meet the Lord in the air. Paul closes this section with an admonition to encourage others with this hope.
In this passage, Paul uses the common euphemism of sleep to refer to those who have died in Christ, i.e., believers. Paul wants to comfort his readers that those Christians who have died prior to the return of Christ will not miss out on anything. That is why he opens this section by saying, “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope” (v. 13).
So to answer the question, the dead in Christ are those believers who have died prior to the second coming of Christ. Believers, whether dead or alive, belong to Christ. We get similar language from the Apostle in his first letter to the Corinthians when he writes, “But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:23). The dead in Christ applies not only to Paul’s original audience, but to all believers who have died in what can be termed the “inter-advental” period, or the time between the first and second comings of Christ.
Another question that may come up in this context is what happens to believers when they die? Certainly Paul uses sleep to refer to their state, but does this mean that believers experience (for lack of a better word) an unconscious sleep-like state until the future resurrection? Those who advocate this position, called soul sleep, base it on passages such as 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. But it should be noted that “sleep” as used here is euphemistic. It is not meant to convey actual sleep. In fact, the experience of the believer after death and before the end of the age when Christ returns is conscious, blissful communion with the Lord. Paul hints at this in verses such as 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 and Philippians 1:23.
At death, the body lies in repose in the grave awaiting the resurrection of the last day, but the soul goes to be at home with the Lord. This is the doctrine of the intermediate state. Believers experience in a provisional sense the rewards that await them in heaven, while unbelievers experience a taste of their eternal torment in hell (Luke 16:19-31).
In other words, our faith becomes sight upon the death of our earthly bodies. When the Church is raptured, the souls of the believers who passed on will return and reclaim their bodies which are now truly restored. Those who are alive at the time of the rapture will be caught up into the clouds with the Lord next.

Basically everything that falls under Satan will not rise.
That is anything not born again..
Jesus made it clear.
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:3

It seems that Paul is talking about the second coming of Christ. At his coming those who died but having faith in Christ will be the first to rise having the glorious body before those who will be alive that time to be also changed into the glorious body. But we need to remember that all these event will just happen in a moment, a twinkling of an eye

Thanks for the question. He is talking about the resurrection of the body. Souls and spirits never do die. Since Jesus’ resurrection, saved souls and spirits go directly to heaven to be with Jesus. We know this because the Bible says to be “absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” and that is why Paul doesn’t care if he dies, because he would immediately be with Jesus in heaven. Revelation 5 and 7 also has saved souls in heaven prior to Jesus’ Second Coming and the Judgement… Prior to Jesus’ resurrection, saved souls went to Sheol/Hades/the place of the dead until Jesus’ death could atone for their sins. Jesus spoke about this place in the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus. Unsaved souls and spirits still go to Sheol upon death and stay there until Judgement Day. Read about it in Revelation 20.
Unsaved souls are taken out of Sheol/Hades in Revelation 20 for Judgement Day, judged, and then thrown into the lake of fire. Indeed, Revelation 20 says all of Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire. this is the second death. Their bodily resurrection occurs then. For the saved dead, their bodily resurrection occurs at the rapture. Their bodies are made whole and perfect, and are reunited with their souls and spirits. .The bodies of the saved dead will rise from the grave and meet Christ in the air! Then Christ will also take all the live saints at the time with Him too! Wow! They then can rule and reign for 1000 years on the earth with their resurrected bodies in Revelation 20. In between they are with the Lord in heaven, with united bodies with spirits and souls. -
The only thing I can say is that it is just what it says, when The trump soul day, and Jesus is in the air waiting for His bride the church, all salve who are alive will rise into the clouds to be with Him in the air, but those who were saved but died before the taking up of the church will rise from the grave and will meet us who remain in the air to meet the Lord in the clouds

This is just my favorite theory but I believe that when a believer dies time ceases and he goes immediately to that day and meets the lord with all the saints!

It’s only right they get to go first. But if you consider this all happens in the twinkling of an eye, (About 11/100th of a second) does it really matter? Just saying!

There seems to have been some fear that the dead would be left behind is one explaination I emember from the pass. People get funny ideas from timt to time especially when in greek culture where the idea of the resurrect of the physical body was quite offensives to many who grew up with Greek thinking.
