This is a pagan belief adapted by so called Catholics. Waste of time discussing this belief with pagans. They are not Christians they are paganizing the christians since their council was created.

God has no mother, Mary was just a vessel, a vessel to carry the body that Jesus would use to be born as a man, why? Because in the bible it says that God is spirit (Jn 2:12) and as God (Jn 1:1, Jn 1:14)), Jesus cannot die, but it also says that the wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23). So God the Father sent His only begotten Son Jesus, to save mankind and must suffer death in a human body (Heb. 10:5) for His blood to save us sinners So He must take on a human body, become part man, pay for our sins with His death and grant us and other generations to come, the gift of salvation thru His blood.(Heb.9:12, Col.1:14, Eph. 1:7) Such a profound, noble, selfless, brave and loving act (Jn 3:16). Praise Him who alone is worthy….For the Glory of God our Father in heaven.

She was a teenage girl who was integral and found favor with God. She was used of God to carry and give birth to God’s Son, Jesus Christ. She was a typical Jewish girl, who knew the scriptures as far as she could in her culture. After she gave birth to Jesus, she had more children from her husband Jospeh. She was human, and has no divine attributes. She does not take prayers or sends them on, she can’t hear them. She was as human as you and I.

Christians hold that God came to Mary’s womb and God lived in Mary’s womb for nine months. Christians also hold that a mother gives birth to a person, not a mere nature. However the person who came out of her womb is a divine person with a human nature. The fundamental reason why Mary is Mother of God is to highlight the identity of her child, that this baby is a divine person and a mother gives birth to a person. No mother ever gives birth to a body or human nature. We are talking about a divine Person.

Mary is the way that our Lord Jesus Christ was born, but mary is not the mother of Jesus Christ being a God. Read in hebrews 7:3
Hebrews 7:3(KJV) Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
Actually that belief is so very paganism especially in roman catholic.

God is three distinct persons in one- Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Father God-is all powerful spirit- Son is Jesus- wholly God come as human. The Holy Spirit is God’s continued presence on earth. Is Mary the Mother of God- all powerful spirit? No. God is not human and therefore is not biologically caused. Mary is the human vessel who carried Jesus- God come as man- the second person of the Trinity.

We know that Mary was the vessel, and we know that she can do nothing to save souls, answer prayers or grant forgiveness… We know because Christ told us who DOES do all those things. MEN irreverently assume that Christ is not thorough, and He left out pertinent information. And that same pride Satan has, makes men think they should fix and expand on the Word of God… See. ?
Mary did not raise the dead, perform miracles, or heal the sick… She did not sustain STRIPES, she ain’t hang on the cross, not rise from the dead or ascend into Heaven. She’s not coming back to get you, she ain’t preparing no place. She is REMEMBERED… That’s Not worshipped.

So you got the first thing down… You believe ?
Next you repent by acknowledging to God that you are a terrible sinner against Him and you’re sorry for it. You ask Him to forgive you and you commit to a lifetime battle against your flesh and it’s continued desire to sin.
Then you go down in the watery grave of baptism…. you call a Church of Christ and they WILL take you REGARDLESS of the COVIDS? If they don’t, then move on to next one. But be sure you take your whole body completely under the water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Then you Get up and you love God with all your mind, body, and soul by Hanging on EVERY word that Christ utters. Don’t let ANYONE tell you ANYTHING that contradicts Christ. Don’t let anyone add anything or take anything from what Christ has said. HE is the ONLY one who says what you must do to be saved or not saved. The disciples and everyone else are allowed to say ONLY TOTALLY what Christ said. He is the end all be all.
You love your neighbors as you love yourself, you love EVERYONE BY treating them as you want to be treated. The best way to do that is to MAKE COPIES of yourself by making sure everyone else knows what they must do to be saved…. You become a priest under CHRIST. No one between you and Christ.
Study His word and become an expert before you move on to Acts-Jude. – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John is where you live until death if necessary.
And you will not plan, and desire, and look forward to sin. You regret the sin and you fall and get up asking for forgiveness each time.
God will forgive you as far as the East is from the West. He is Faithful and true!

Mary isn’t the Mother of God, she was the Mother of the flesh of Jesus. All earthly, she is not in anyway divine. I love her and have so much respect for her as an amazing mother, so please don’t take my answer as a dig at her. I give all the honour she deserves and trust me, I know she deserves it but the Catholic Church allow this doctrine to go unchecked when even many many priests don’t pray to Mary, asking her to pray to Jesus. Many know who their intercessor is, so it gets me, that the church don’t address this issue and reject it as it only began in the 1600’s

Praying to Mary is idolatry and is a prime requisite of the RCC a built -in first commandment violation. Another is the use of images the kind that catholics kneel before, burn incense to, parade around in processions place in shrines and light candles to. A built -in Second commandment flaunting. Changing the Sabbath from the 7th day to the 1st is another mandated mass sin exercise.This is proof of the Satanization of the RCC. it is PAGAN a tool of the devil and all must come out of her.

My advice: don’t. It’s a misleading statement. Mary being the mother of God implies she existed before Him. The correct understanding is that she is the BEARER of God, as she carried the Lord in her womb for 9 months. She did NOT bring God into being, as a mother does her son. Rather, she is the precious vessel through which God chose to enter the world. Therefore, she is the mother of Christ only.

‘Mother’ as in an earthly vessel that was used to usher in the Messiah? No issue.
‘Mother’ as in the literal ‘Mother of God with powers unrivalled by any human being before or since the Queen of Heaven?’ No.

Jesus is God, but God is not Jesus. In order for Mary to be the mother of God, logically she would have to be eternally God herself who birthed the Triune Godhead – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Since that is not the case, she is not the mother of God, but the mother of Jesus – the humanity of God the Son.

The RCC and her followers continue to omit the fact, God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit are an eternally UNCREATED Spirit. Yet our spirits are created and formed in the womb. Thus, the term mother used for a created being can only be used literally for creation. Yet God is not created, while Mary is, thus she cannot be the mother of God. Another point they conveniently gloss over is the fact Jesus is God, but God is not Jesus. Thereby, if Mary is the mother of God, this implies she had Father, Son and Holy Spirit in her womb which is not correct.
Furthermore, as noted above. The Greek transliteration in Luke 1:43 of the phrase is “mother of the lord of me,” and the Greek word for lord is Kyrios. It is word 2962 in Strong’s dictionary and has a translation of “he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has the power of deciding; master, lord…the possessor and disposer of a thing, the owner…a sovereign prince, or chief.”
Thus, Mary is not the mother of Jesus deity/divinity. Nowhere does Mary call herself the mother of God, nor does Jesus use that phrase to anyone else. It appears the roman catholic church are instituting titles that are unbiblical and not supported in scriptures. Clearly the rcc are making more of the word mother beyond what it was intended.

This statement has caused so much confusion among Catholics. I once tried to explain to a Catholic friend that Jesus (God the Son) existed way before Mary ever even came into existence. They couldn’t believe it or understand it at all. They kept asking, “well how can that be if Mary gave birth to Jesus? Didn’t Mary come first than Jesus?” They cannot fully grasp who God is because of what they believe about Mary.

Let’s expose the the neophyte logic of the catholics who claim Mary is the mother of God because God the Son was in her womb.
As a catholic, they have to concede the Holy Spirit is God. Now we as believers both male and female have God residing in us as the scriptures teach. Since God is Spirit – John 4:22, and The Holy Spirit is God in us, then we are all fathers or mothers of God, applying the same standards the carholics exercises. Now a catholic may retort that we don’t give birth to the Spirit; however, this is not only appealing to the fallacy of denying the antecedent, but the false dilemma. You see, logically, to give birth by simple definition it starts with the creation by means of conception. Yet God, who is Spirit, is eternally uncreated, while Mary is not. Therefore, Mary had no part in the conception of the Spirit, but rather was a vessel in which the Spirit (Son) resided. Thereby, we as believers are all vessels that have God inside us.

Is Mary the mother of God (Theotokos)?
The phrase mother of God traces back to the third century and continues to be used in some liturgical churches, including the Roman Catholic Church. One of the topics at the Council of Ephesus in AD 431 was the use of the Greek term Theotókos (literally, “God-bearer” or “the one who gives birth to God”) in reference to Mary. That council’s use of Theotokos was meant to counter the heresy of Nestorianism, which cleaved the nature and person of Christ in two: Christ’s human and divine natures were completely divergent and unconnected. According to Nestorius, Mary gave birth to Christ but not to God; Mary was the mother of His humanity, which was totally distinct from His divinity—Jesus was two persons sharing one body, essentially. The Council of Ephesus affirmed the full deity of Christ and unity of His person by saying that Mary did indeed bear God in her womb. Mary is the “mother of God” in the sense that, since Jesus is God and Mary is the mother of Jesus, she is the mother of God. The Word became flesh (John 1:14), and Mary mothered Him.We should distinguish the term Theotokos from mother of God, because there is a subtle yet important difference. The term mother of God could be taken wrongly as implying that Mary was the source or originator of God, similar to how Juno was the mother of Vulcan in Greek mythology. Of course, Christianity teaches that God is eternal and that Jesus Christ has a pre-existent, divine nature. The idea that Mary is the mother of God in the sense that she was the source of God or somehow predated God or is herself part of the Godhead is patently unbiblical.
The term Theotokos, on the other hand, is more specific and less open to being misconstrued. Theotokos simply implies that Mary carried God in her womb and gave birth to Him. Mary was the human agent through whom the eternal Son of God took on a human body and a human nature and entered the world. The term Theotokos was a succinct expression of the biblical teaching of the Incarnation, and that is how the Council of Ephesus used the word. Mary is the “God-bearer” in that within her body the divine person of God the Son took on human nature in addition to His pre-existing divine nature. Since Jesus is fully God and fully man, it is correct to say that Mary “bore” God.
Even though the term Theotokos was originally used to help explain the Incarnation, many people today use the term, or the related mother of God, to communicate something different. Through the years, many legends accumulated around the person of Mary, and she became an object of worship in her own right. About 350 years after the Council of Ephesus used the term Theotokos in reference to Mary, the Second Council of Nicaea declared, “We honor and salute and reverently venerate . . . the image of . . . our spotless Lady the all-holy mother of God.” This shows the trend within the Roman Church to move from a focus on the Incarnation of God to a veneration of the “Mother of God,” even to the point of honoring her images and praying to her as the “Queen of Heaven,” “Benefactress,” and “Mediatrix.” The necessity of such veneration is not implied by the term Theotokos, but some people wrongly infer it.
Roman Catholic leaders teach their followers to go to Mary to find help in their time of need: “From the most ancient times the Blessed Virgin has been honored with the title of ‘Mother of God,’ to whose protection the faithful fly in all their dangers and needs” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, Part 1, Section 2, Chapter 3, Article 9, Paragraph 6, 971). The Eastern churches still use the term Theotokos, and they sing hymns called theotokia to Mary. This portion of a theotokion is from the liturgy of the Coptic Orthodox Church: “You are the pride of virgins, O Mary the Theotokos. / You are the soul’s city, where the Most High lived, who sits upon the throne, of the Cherubim. . . . / O Virgin Mary, the holy Mother of God, the trusted advocate, of the human race. / Intercede on our behalf, before Christ whom you have born, that He may grant unto us, the forgiveness of our sins” (from The Friday Theotokia – Watos). These views of Mary represent a theological shift away from Christ as our sole Redeemer and Intercessor (1 Timothy 2:5) and an overemphasis on Mary as the “Mother of God.”

John 5:18
“Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.”Now as catholics would concede, Mary is a created being that did not always exist. Therefore, much like one should not call anyone as Father, this would imply to the term mother.
Matthew 23:9
“Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.”Thus in the 1st Century Jewish culture, to make the proclamation of God being a Father equates to equality with the Father. This is why Jesus publicly rejected a special blessing to just Mary (mother), and why you do not find Mary, Jesus or the Bible declaring Mary as the mother of God, as this would be a blasphemous claim!!!!
