What is your definition of dispensationalism

  2. Francesco PD says:

    No.

  3. Ugo Torcasio says:

Well if you believe God keeps His promises, take the Bible literally and make a distinction between Israel and the Church, then you may support it.

  4. Ian Hartley says:

The Creation, the Fall, the Global Flood, God dealing with the Nations at the Tower of Babel, Job and then Abraham. God’s Promise to Abraham and then the Patriarchs, Joseph, the Bondage in Egypt, Moses, the 10 Commandments, Kings, 1 st Temple, Captivity, Daniel Prophecy, 2nd Temple, Prophets, the Messiah, Gospel of the Kingdom, Israel’s rejection, Judgement, The Crucifixion and Resurrection, the Church, Gospel of Grace, 2000 years, Israel restored. Next – The Future, the time of Jacob’s Trouble, The Revelation, the Anti Christ, 3rd Temple, Christ returns with his Bride, the Church of Believers, The Battle of Armageddon, Satan bound, 1000 yr Rule, Satan loosed last Rebellion, New Heaven and New Earth. I hope I haven’t forgotten anything. God in History deals with different People , Nations in a way that can be seen through Scripture. God made a non conditional Covenant with Abraham where He swore by himself that Abraham’s seed would inherit the promises. That Abraham is going to be a great nation, that he is going to be given a land, a place to live, and that through Him, all of the nations will be blessed. The ‘Church’ never has and never will be the beneficiary of this Covenant as it was not dependent on the performance of Abraham or His Seed, but God’s Sovereign Will.

  5. Kristen Park says:

It’s a very new theology and has been used to justify cessationism so it’s a no from me

  6. Joseph Benhardt says:

    No direct proof in scripture.

  7. Mark Marley says:

As with Covenant theology, both are theological grids that have strengths and weaknesses. But both bring truth to the table.

  8. Donivan Felty says:

I find references to God dealing with us differently, especially in the area of knowledge.

I believe there will even be degrees of hell.

Luke 12:47-48 (KJV) 47 And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not [himself], neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many [stripes]. 48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few [stripes]. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

    Acts 17:30 (KJV)
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

I don’t know if there is a line I the sand where God moves into or out of one of the so-called dispensations.

But it looks like that as you move down through the centuries, if you took a snapshot of what God looked like based on what he has revealed about himself, he would look different each century

  9. Chris Mabe says:

Covenant theologians see the Bible as a continuous story, from beginning to end, of a glorious God saving His people, the church, which is composed of Jews and Gentiles. They see God working through covenants. The main two being the one between God and Adam which was a covenant of works, and after the fall the covenant of grace.

Dispensational theologians see much of the same truths but they see the biblical account as a glorious God saving His people but through different stages of history. God works through dispensations. It’s not the same from beginning to end and there are two distinct groups the Church and Israel.

Back in the day dispensationalism led to many heresies like different modes of salvation between the church and Israel, crazy readings of revelation, and other strange stuff. Nowadays though dispensationalists are generally very orthodox and would agree with covenant theologians on most doctrinal issues.

  10. Jake Jordan says:

If it is Biblical then it is Historical. Being this is not Historical, it is not Biblical.

  11. Chester Higgs says:

    5. Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

    2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

    3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

    Paul said

1 Corinthians 9:17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a DISPENSATION of the gospel is committed unto me.

Ephesians 1:10 That in the DISPENSATION of the FULNESS OF TIMES he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

Ephesians 3:2 If ye have heard of the DISPENSATION of the GRACE of God which is given me to you-ward:

    Colossians 1:25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the DISPENSATION of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

DISPENSATION means to me where God prophecies in advance and in it DISPENSATION (allotted time) it will come to past

  12. King Etim says:

Bible is historical. This is why I said so, history is termed to be something or records kept from past experience for knowledge.,.. this is how I see history in short.
So Bible comprises of God’s dealings with men in time past and guided instructions for the future generations.
Therefore we can say that dispensations can be substituted for generations

  13. Shawn Lazar says:

    Yes.

An easy way to prove Dispensationalism—that God has dealt with people differently in different dispensations—is to follow what people were allowed to eat.

Adam and Eve: They could eat of all the trees in the garden, including the tree of life, but not the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Noah: He could eat meat, but without blood.

Moses: The Jews could only eat kosher.

Church age: What matters is what’s in your heart not what you eat.

New heaven/new earth: Eat from the tree of life.

  14. Naathan Lewis says:

Dispensationalism as in the Hebrew Bible being null and void?

If so, such is the problem with the modern church.

  15. Christopher Brynestad says:

Dispensationalism has theological diplopia (double vision): 2 Returns of Christ, 2 Judgments, 2 Resurrections, etc. It is sci-fi loosely based on some elements from scripture reinterpreted to create a new scriptural worldview.

  16. Grant Reedy says:

Dispensationalism depends on what one is trying to reference.

In the broad term, I would say yes, as to say God is a timeline for past present and future and will reveal His Word in His timeline for those it was meant for.

This is why one should not trap themselves in past understanding of others, thousands of years ago or centuries ago.

If you do, then you have mistakenly put God in a box of unknowing, powerless and limited, not a very good idea at all.

God is not obvious, God is revealed by His Spirit through Christ Jesus, both in the Old Testament and the New Testament.

The Word of God is written in a universal language for past present and future.
What people trap themselves in here, is they really miss the point that terminology has changed from Old Testament to New Testament, though the meaning of the Word is unchaining.

Lastly, mankind lives and exists in a false reality and they try and understand God in and by the restrictions of this false reality.

The bible was never meant to be read in a literal or metaphorical sense whatsoever, that’s the first mistake most people make, though because they define all things by a false reality, the true reality can’t be reviewed to them and you end up with false teachings, false doctrine and multiple religions and denominations who all have different interpretations of the scriptures.

There is only one Spirit of truth Christ offered though mankind has missed the point altogether and hence multiple false and misleading Religions and false and misleading denominations to back them up, though apparently no-one has noticed.??‍♂️.

  18. Somes Jm says:

Despensationalism came from miller teaching a sevethday Adventist founder , and adopted the systems by the Plymouth brethren movement 1830 in ireland and popularise by nelson darby 1882 “secret rapture” theory thats not found in the scripture and popularise in the U.S. by cyrus Scofield bible before darby before that there was no teaching about the “rapture” they give another meaning the word caught up in 1 thes.5:17, most mainline Protestant generally rejected it. One of them is the Presbyterian Church termed it “evil and subversive” and regards it as a heresy
