Is Baptism required to become a Christian or can I just pray Jesus into my heart? I don’t see pray Jesus into my heart- in the Bible, but I do see baptism? ?

Believing upon Jesus is how you get born again. The prayer is simply a confession of faith. The prayer alone does not save you, your faith in Christ is what saves you. Baptism is an outward confession of faith. It represents you dying to your flesh, and raising up with Christ.

It is not pray Jesus into your heart or baptism. Scripture tells us that we are saved by faith and not by works it is a gift of God.

Baptism is to salvation what a ring is to marriage. The ring does not create a legally binding marriage – anyone can put on a ring. What binds people together before God and man is a marriage, which is the result of a union of hearts which began before the marriage. In the same way, baptism doesn’t cleanse us of our sins. Anyone can dunk or sprinkle with water. It is the surrendering of our hearts to Christ, because of belief in His gospel, that causes us to want to be baptised. Just like the ring, it is an outward display to the world of a change in the heart.

Bruce Emerson the meaning of “for” in Acts 2:38 is “because” just like the “for” in John 3:16 which is “for God so loved” remember that its old eng in KJV.
In short, you dont need baptism for salvation. -
What about all those that died before Christ. Is there no hope for them?

The bible tells us clearly that baptism is important for us all, Christians. It also tells us about the handing over of baptism from us (man) back to our Lord Saviour God-with-us Anointed-One (Matthew 3:13-15). It is our Lord Jesus Immanuel Christ who baptizes us and He does that with Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 3:11): just as it happed to Him (Matthew 3:16) so that the prophecy be fulfilled (Isaiah 40:3, Matthew 3:3,13-14).
We used to baptize with water into repentance (Matthew 3:1-6). BUT all that is no longer NECESSARY for the remission of our sins is THROUGH AND ONLY THROUGH the blood of our Lord Jesus Immanuel Christ (Matthew 26:28).

Repent & believe the Gospel that is what saves you. The evidence that you do believe and that your faith in genuine will show itself in repentance. Repentance begins with a change of mind; im tired of living in sin and walking this direction in my life, next repentance is a change in direction of ones life; turning away from sin and self, laying down ur fleshly life and picking up ur cross and choosing Christ’s life. Finally repentance will show itself in a transformed or changed life. Do not be discouraged this is not an over night ordeal but a life long process. But as you continue ur walk with Christ you will notice more and more conformity to Him and holiness in your life and less and less sin within. This is God’s work of sanctification on the believers life. You may take 3 steps forward and fall 2 steps back or even take 2 steps forward and fall 3 steps back but know this, a true believer is and will over time become more and more conformed to the image and likeness of His Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus said to do it (it’s how we make disciples), the apostles encouraged people to do it, and Peter said it saves us. You can have faith apart from baptism, but why wouldn’t we do it if the evidence is there?

Accepting Jesus Christ in your heart and repentance is a necessity to be baptize by the spirit. When you do that, you complies with the most important requirement of surrendering to God and His will. While baptism by water is our testimony to man of our submission to God. Both are necessary because it is the will of God.

It’s so easy to read it’s at a fourth grade level. But people today are too lazy to want to try and actually do what God said to do to be saved.

Yes and no. Baptism saves, but it isn’t the only way God saves.

Our Holy Savior, Jesus was baptized by his cousin John the Baptist. That’s proof enough to me, yes we must be baptized.

Gabe Cannon Baptism is required to be a Christian. Water baptism is one of two ordinances (acts of obedience) required by Jesus (with the other ordinance being observance of the Lord’s supper)
BUT, water baptism is not required for salvation. Salvation can only be achieved by faith and not by works.
HOWEVER, with all of that being said, if you are a true believer in Jesus Christ, and he expects you to be publicly and fully immersed in observing water baptism, id highly recommend you do it. It may not result in salvation but im confident it will affect your spiritual rewards for eternity.

Baptism is not required for salvation, but it’s an act of obedience. If one repents and accepts Jesus, he or she will also have a desire to do what the Lord commanded and get baptized. But the person is already saved before getting baptized.
On the other hand, if a person gets “saved,” but refuses to get baptized, I would question the salvation. It’s like a person getting “saved,” but refusing to live by the Scriptures.

Salvation is a free gift from God. Believing in faith you receive God’s grace and gift of salvation. Being baptized is the outward expression of that, a symbol to others to see that you have ‘buried’ your old self and are born again as a believer.

Baptism isn’t required to become a Christian, but it is required AFTER you become a Christian. If you’re a Christian, but not baptised, get baptised. It is a grave sin, and in the first century, it was automatic. Back then, the only thing that hindered baptism was the availability of water, and even that was solved. First chance you get, you got in, got dunked, the world witnessed your declaration of faith.

Christ taught us in John 3 that we must be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit to enter in the kingdom of Heaven. Jesus himself was baptized showing that he is the ultimate example to follow for our salvation and that Baptism is essential.

If you have the opportunity or choice to be baptized then do it. It’s one way of telling the world that you are a follower of Jesus and you are not ashamed of it. It’s not about being saved or cleansed, it’s more of a manifestation of what’s working on the inside.

“Pray Jesus into my heart” is a simple way of putting it, but you’re right, you will not see these exact words in the bible. It refers to being open and honest with Jesus in your admission of guilt and acknowledge utter failure (just being honest) in being sinful and your true repentance and honesty in asking Jesus to create a new heart in you, a heart that desires to honor and glorify God in all you say and do. That’s the oversimplified version IMHO.

My another contention is in Ehp 1. The sealing of the Holy Spirit happens when one puts his faith in Christ.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
In this passage the gospel of salvation is mentioned. This gospel as we are told, can saved. Now if a person is saved and possess the seal of the Holy Spirit of promise, is he still indangered to go to hell? Is the promise not effective or void without baptism? No and no.
Those who oppose this, use other verses from the Scriptures and disregard what is said in here. Not realising that this is the explaination that they need in order to have a good understanding of other references. -
Why not be baptized, it isn’t as though there is no water around and there are plenty of Christians who would be happy to baptize you. Baptism is not necessary for salvation but why would someone be put off by it?
