Many Evangelicals like to say that if you give up Creation (the Genesis Creation account), you give it all up.

Believe what they’re saying is that if you accept the miraculous resurrection of Jesus, you’re bound to accept the miraculous creation ex nihilo.

Or,

is one of these miracles “bigger” than the other?

If you give up one Christian doctrine you give up Christ.

Denying that God made the world out of nothing would definitely be a denial of something as big as the Resurrection

  2. Robert Gilland says:

Without the Fall there is no Salvation , That means the Earth and Humanity must have been perfect once for there to be a Fall. Evolution does not allow for a time where there was not death and disease.

  3. Bill Bellingham says:

Ken Ham speaks a lot to this. If you give up the creation narrative, you effectively erode the foundation of Scripture and therefore the foundation of Christianity! If you cannot believe the account of creation, you cannot believe anything in scripture.

  4. Kevin Taylor says:

It’s either a literal 6 day creation, or there is no God and no salvation.

  5. Danny Wilder says:

I believe Paul wrote about this:
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

  6. Duane L Burgess says:

We must believe God beginning at Genesis 1. It’s not a matter of salvation; it’s a matter of obeying God and having a consistent faith.

  7. Bob Jones says:

You can’t have the one without the other, the Genesis creation account is the foundation for the entire Bible, without it there is no Word of God

  8. Robert Duncan says:

Faith like a grain of mustard seed…

  9. Rick Holtsclaw says:

Where do theologians contrive the idea of “ex nihilo?”

  10. Robert Gilland says:

God spoke and it became existent. That is the crux of Genesis 1.

  11. Steven Wells says:

The word of God us unfalliable

  12. Christoph Schwaiger says:

Fundamental Christians have a real dilemma on their hands. The creation account has been disproved by science. and the creation of the Bible has a distinct human element to it.

  13. Robert Gilland says:

Science is a method. It cannot be used to view history.

  14. John Carson says:

The issue is the infallibility of the Word of God. If the creation account and the flood are not historically accurate, then what is to stop people from not believing the rest of the Bible? If these were not true events, then God’s promise that the woman’s seed will crush Satan’s head in Genesis 3 is not true. Jesus talked about Adam and Eve as if they were real people.

  15. Matt Hill says:

OP : can you give an example of an evangelical saying something like this, with the context? I’m pretty sure I know what the issue at stake is, but then you mention the resurrection specifically, which I don’t think is related in the way you seem to be indicating . .

  16. Corey Matthew says:

Tommy S. Hancock what we mean by that, is if you cannot believe Gods sovereign and authoritative word regarding the creation account, on what grounds can you believe anything else in the Bible, including the message of salvation. Did you know Genesis account has the first message of salvation called the protoevangelum (Genesis 3:15)? On what grounds can you believe it in one case and not another?

If you don’t believe what God’s word says about one thing, why believe anything including His Son. For even Jesus regarded the Jewish Bible (the Christian Old Testament) as inerrant.

Im not even going to touch upon the copious amounts of scientific, philosophical, archeological, and historical proofs of the accuracy of the Genesis account.

  17. Alex Wong says:

In the words of an evolutionist, Frank Zindler-1996: The most devastating thing that biology did to Christianity was the discovery of biological evolution. Now that we know that Adam and Ever never were real people, the central myth of Christianity is destroyed. If there was never an Adam and Eve, there never was an original sin. If there never was original sin, there is no need of salvation. If there is no need of salvation, there is no need of a savior. And i submit that puts Jesus, historical or otherwise, into the ranks of the unemployed. It think that evolution is absolutely the death knell of Christianity.
—Compromise on creation and a literal adam and eve and fall, the purpose of jesus is a mute point—

  18. Wayne Johnson says:

Everything hinges on the resurrection. That is where we should focus. If Christ did not rise from the dead then none of this argument matters. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Corinthians+15&version=LEB

  19. Caleb Jackson says:

That is a slippery slope fallacy

  20. Bill Carleton says:

Doubters.give up .God is good.i understand .been there

  21. Madison Willoughby says:

I guess it depends on your definition of ‘miracle.’ Does ‘bigger’ translate into ‘harder,’ more ‘meaningful’ or something else? Creation is a huge miracle, but I wonder if the resurrection of Jesus isn’t larger. His resurrection wasn’t just about bringing His body back to life, it was about bringing His body back to life after He carried the weight of world’s sin. What a catastrophically heaven burden that had to have been. The physical aspect was horrific, but the mental anguish involved in dying such a brutal death while knowing you were innocent, then rising with forgiveness for each and everyone of us. To me, it’s a very sobering realization.

  22. Peter Ferlin says:

it is the pride of men… that they will able(want) to know the depth of GOD..
john1:10. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not..
they will not able to know God (his depth knowledge)
    Eph.3:16-19. That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

17That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

    18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. therefore, if you really want to know Him,,, pray(ask) so that he will give you Spirit so that you will able to KNOW GOD.. Mat 7:7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matthew 18:3 and Jesus says, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you change and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.”

(no evidence is needed/theory) especially if it is directly against what the scripture saying, which i believe is a WORD OF GOD. I’d rather believed and die embracing the word of God in Gen (creation, adam fall, protoevangelum) than believing on the science of man that didn’t know knowledge regarding spiritual things of GOD. Its a work of darkness, like Satan did to Eve, giving doubts on the commandments/ or Word of God. I personally don’t give a damn time to those knowledge of man that is directly against God words…especially if it will give doubts regarding my faith on God…
ultimately,, i am certain with the God i am believing than the possibility (statistically speaking probability is not true) of man’s knowledge/theory/ pup up thinking, (?????) i’d be rather uneducated, not able to read and write person but a believer of God, than be a well educated, holder of 10 degrees, masterals of… and doctorate of… scientist, evolutionist, doctors, lawyers, senators and president/kind or queens of nations, richest, name it all high class) but doubting the Word of God,terribly, no God at all !!!!!! or not believing on the existence of the Creator (true Living God, God of Abraham, isaac, jacob, moses and Israel)
