Was the mother of Jesus free from original sin??

Mary needed a saviour just like the rest of us and every time Mary directed people to do what Jesus said, she didn’t say I’ll ask him for you, she just said do whatever he tells you. Mary also went on to live a very normal life with her husband which included having more children. Yes Mary had other children. Some Catholics refuse to hear that. And Mary died just like everyone else. There is no record anywhere in scripture or in history that she ascended into heaven. She was the most blessed woman on earth and an i often wonder what kind of mother she was while she lived. But she has gone on into her rest for the work she did on earth is over. It ended when she died.

Mary the mother of Jesus was a godly and blessed woman, but she was not without sin. Jesus was the only human without sin. Jesus “had no sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21). “In him is no sin” (1 John 3:5). Nothing of the sort is ever said of Mary or anyone else. Jesus Christ is fully human, but He is also fully God (John 1:1). He is the Lamb of God, “without blemish or defect” (1 Peter 1:19), a title and description no other person can claim.
As an ordinary part of the human race, born into the world the ordinary way, Mary was not without sin. Romans 3:23 teaches that all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory, and there is nothing in the Bible to suggest that Mary was an exception to this rule. The apostle John wrote, “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us” (1 John 1:8–10). The “we” in this passage includes Mary, the mother of Jesus. To claim Mary is without sin is an example of “deceit.”
To help bolster their teaching that Mary was sinless, the Roman Catholic Church has invented the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception (formally accepted as Catholic dogma in 1854). According to this false teaching, Mary was, from her very conception in her mother’s womb, “preserved free from all stain of original sin.” That is, Mary had no sinful nature. This doctrine is neither biblical nor necessary. The virgin-born Christ Jesus was free from the stain of original sin, but it was not necessary for His mother to be—or His grandmother—or His great-grandmother, etc. How far back would we have to go to insure Jesus’ perfection, if it were necessary for Mary to be sinless?
Rather than teach that Mary was sinless, the Bible gives evidence that she was a normal person with a normal person’s need of salvation. In Mary’s praise-filled, humble prayer in Luke 1, she says, “My spirit rejoices in God my Savior” (verse 47). If she were sinless, she would not have needed a “Savior.” Mary receives a gentle rebuke from Jesus in John 2:4, which hardly seems fitting if she were sinless.
Catholicism also teaches that the reference to Mary being “highly favored” (Luke 1:28) and one who was “blessed . . . among women” (Luke 1:42) supports the view of a sinless Mary. However, neither verse makes such a claim. It is possible to be blessed and know God’s favor without being sinless. Catholic teaching also describes Mary as “full of grace,” but that phrase is found only twice in the Bible, and neither time is it in reference to Mary. Jesus is said to be “full of grace” (John 1:14), and so is Stephen (Acts 6:8).
The veneration of Mary in Catholicism and some other liturgical religious systems has led to the unbiblical claim that Mary was without sin. Other unbiblical doctrines have also cropped up around the view of a sinless Mary: the teaching that she was a perpetual virgin, that she hears and answers our prayers, that she shares in our redemption, and that she is a mediator of grace, to name a few. Those who revere a sinless Mary are being “led astray from . . . sincere and pure devotion to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3)

No. She was a sinner like us who needed a Savior like us. She was uniquely blessed when God ordained her to give birth to Christ and to be His earthly mother. But that does not give her a status beyond that which we have. Without the saving work of Christ, she would just as much be bound for eternal damnation as the rest of us.

No, why, after the birth of Christ she sacrificed two pigeons or turtle doves which is for a sin offering and a praise offering. Also, she is not the mother of Christ but only an instrument to bring Him into the world as we are.

NO! Veneration of Mary is not biblical. Catholics treat her as a Goddess. She is not co-redeemer. She was not free from sin.

No, she was not free from it. She was born a human, not divine, and after the fall which makes her under the original sin. She was chosen by God to do His will. She cannot atone for anyone’s sin, she cannot intercede on anyone’s behalf before God and she is not divine in any sense. God used her like He used Nehemiah, David, Noah, Paul and many others; to advance His kingdom, for His glory and for His purposes.

As I understand it the concept of the Immaculate conception was something developed in the Roman tradition of the Church to deal with, what I think was a misunderstanding of, Augustine of Hippo’s writings in “The City of God”. The idea is not in Scripture. I do not believe it to be true nor does the Eastern part of the Church.

Mary was a very holy, obedient, and respect worthy person! God favored her more than others & chose her to mother his son! She was NOT sinless. The mother of Jesus gave birth to HER SAVIOR! The only sinless human that’s ever walked the earth is Jesus Christ!

Catechism teaches Mary sinless and you have to believe Mary was necessary for salvation. Jesus couldn’t save you without her and Mark Maravelle (sp?) considers her part of the God head. He had great influence on JPII and he praised Mary foot saving his life, not God. Also told by Catholic clergy Mary had too be sinless soi Jesus could be born, since God cannot abide sin. Yet don’t answer how Jesus in the incarnation touched all the sinful people in His life pin Earth. Real question is why didn’t Mary save everyone if she herself was sinless. And that would mean her Mon had to be sinless all the was back to Sarah.

And the discussions over the last 18 years, I have had with Catholics, I found to be super weak and idolatry. If you pray to Mary, that is where your worship and faith is. If people can’t find it in them too trust their heartfelt cries/prayers to Jesus, they don’t trust Him at all. The ONLY mediator between God and man, at least, that is how my discussions have gone with Catholics.

I was once Catholic, until I wanted God to answer my prayers. So me trying to gain the mercy and grace of God, I started to study the Bible.
Turns out that what the Catholic church teaches doesn’t match what the Bible teaches. -

Among all false doctrines, the sinless Mary is the worst. How then can we preach the gospel when there is in fact is another blood qualified to be a worthy lamb other than Christ Jesus. My prayer is for all Catholics to come to repentance. No other name, no other blood. Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Holy One sent by the Father. ?

No, Miriam/Mary was a young woman but not sinless. She was a virgin. God chose her as His way of bringing His Son Jesus/Yeshua into the world.

Romans 5:12-19 is abundantly clear that Mary was not free from original, or any other sin the catholic doctrine decides to make up. She wasn’t sinless at all, period.
Adam imputed sin on her just like every other human being after him, except Jesus because He’s not a son of Adam, He’s the Son of God.??

Not just the Gentiles but the Jews have sinned as well. Paul is telling the Jews this because there was this condescension against the gentiles and so when he says “all have sinned”, he is saying that it is not just the gentiles who have sinned but the Jews as well.

Mary could not be sinless as God cannot go against his nature. His nature is to create beings with FREE WILL. Humans took that free will and choose to sin bringing sin nature into our DNA so to speak. Now GOD can no longer create a sinless being in this fallen world as it goes against his nature of giving us free will with the choice to reject or accept jesus. If God were to create a sinless Mary he would have to create her without the ability to have free will. In essence he would have to create a robot without choice. This is absurd. There are so many problems with a dogma of a sinless Mary which the RCC didnt think through in their attempt to create a goddess.

The Immaculate Conception is a doctrine of the Roman Catholic church which states that the Virgin Mary was free of original sin from the moment of her conception. This doctrine is not found anywhere in the New Testament. It was adopted as Catholic dogma under the papacy of Pius IX in 1854.
In Luke 1:47 Mary says, “My spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” If she were sinless, she would not have needed a “Savior.”

Luke chapter 1 Mary said in her song …” I magnified my Lord my Savior. ” from that she admit that she has a Saviour and a Saviour is the one who saves.Just like us she need to be save.

And we as sinners need a saviour, and so is Mary. The theory of Mary became sinless because she conceive Jesus as sinless is absurdity. It goes back to her mother must be sinless also since Mary is ” sinless” and so… Eve must be sinless also. Mary did not and can not partake the sinlessness of Jesus, and same also Jesus did partake the sinful nature of Mary, why? ..the HOLY SPIRIT OVERSHADOW upon you ..”. To overshadow, is to envelope. The Holy Spirit envelope Jesus to be without contamination of sin.
