SPECIAL ALERT – Passing of Rev. Roland Sharp

Roland Marshall Sharp, 80, of Cleveland, TN, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 2, 2024. Roland was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Page Sharp, his parents Joseph and Mae Sharp, and his brother, Gary (Joyce) Sharp. Roland is survived by his wife, Barbara Fulbright Sharp; his three children Renae & Bruce Dixon, Robert & Marla Sharp, and Matt & Connie Sharp; his stepchildren Tonya Fulbright, Shana & Todd Garner, and Abigail & Shea Hughes; and his grandchildren: Brandon Dixon, Lauren & Arturo Rocha, Robyn & Tim Ustica, Rachel Sharp, Haile Sharp, Adamu Sharp, Benjamin Sharp, Sophia Sharp, Levi Sharp, Kylee & Cameron Boyd, Grayson & Rebecca Garner, Junus Cody & Sarah Rutherford, Micah Hughes, Davis Garner, Ryan Hughes, Madison Garner, Bentley Hughes; and great-grandchild Beckett Boyd. Roland was an ordained minister in the Church of God, leading numerous congregations since 1965. He most recently pastored the Locust Street Church of God in McMinnville, Tennessee. He also pastored churches in Knoxville, Memphis, Lawrenceburg, West Nashville, Decherd, Union City, and Alamogordo, NM. He served on the Tennessee Church of God State Board for 20 years and the Youth Board for 10 years. After retiring from full-time ministry, Roland served as an interim pastor for several churches throughout Tennessee. He was active with North Cleveland Church of God, involved in several prayer groups throughout Cleveland, and even became a beloved part of the Lee University community through his involvement with the Encore Program. One of Roland’s greatest delights was to spend time with his family boating, skiing, and camping. He loved teaching people to water ski and cruising the lakes of Tennessee. But above all, Roland loved sharing the Gospel. And he was quick to share a laugh, give a word of encouragement, or offer a prayer with anyone he encountered. The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 11 A. M. at North Cleveland Church of God, Main Sanctuary with Bishop Mitch Corder, Pastor Robert Sharp and Dr. Mark Williams officiating.  Brother Roland can be viewed at the Church on Monday from 10 A. M. until the service time at 11 A. M.  The graveside service and interment will follow at 3 P. M. C.S.T. in the Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, Tennessee with family and friends serving as casket bearers.  The family will receive friends from 3 P. M. until 6 P. M. Sunday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel, which has charge of the arrangements.
