We are by nature at enmity with God. We reject what he says about himself and us either way. It is only his gift of faith that allows us to know him as he is and accept him.
I watched this happen in the life of a friend who rejected the god of Calvinism. Many others reject the Calvinist god, as it cannot answer the problem of evil. And it is not the God of the Bible, who in fact has sovereignly granted us eternally consequential freedom and desires meaningful, voluntary relationship with us forever.
My perception of God is what some would say “Too good to be true” if that’s not how you view God, you must have the wrong God. His love is never ending and his mercies are forever.. He lavishes his love on us and gives us eternal life.. But you must accept it.. I view God like a Father. If I am naughty he will discipline me like a Father would a child.. But he will never ever lose me or forsake me. It says he won’t.
As an atheist, I can say that this is definitely true. I don’t believe in any of the different Christian definitions of who God is. I think they are all wrong. Every denomination is a different definition (idea), and they mostly all disagree with the ideas of other denominations. I just so happen to disagree with all of them— so in that respect, I’m not that different than the rest of you.
You all disagree with some ideas of who god is, and you all reject ideas of who God is that are not true; I just disagree with a few more than you do.
