Many assume that it’s an apple, but the bible never actually says that.

I had thought it might be sex. After all what eles makes you become self aware of nakedness and results in the pain of childbirth? It is the guilty pleasure that causes us to be sharply aware of right and wrong.

Choice.
The knowledge of having defied God, is painfully different from knowledge that God can be defied. God warned against it and the consequences to follow, and the choice was made.
It could have been an oak, it could have been an avocado, having touched the tree, the choice was already made.

It is symbolic, Jesus is the tree of life, correct? So the fruit of a right relationship with God is righteousness, peace, love , Godly wisdom etc…. The fruit that Adam and Eve partook of is complete opposite. The father of lies is the serpent which is also symbolic. Throughout scripture analogies are used to compare certain people’s attitude or nature to that of animals. Sheep, goats, dogs, Eagles, even trees ,clouds and yes serpent which is speaking of the nature of the deceiver who walked into the garden and spoke to eve. Snakes don’t walk or talk. Isaiah says that someday we will look at satan and say is this the MAN that deceived the world. This implies a lot about the biblical narrative but as scripture is written in a form you can teach your children as they mature they can find deeper meaning . We all must go from milk to meat as we mature .

The Bible never tells us, therefore we have no way of k owing what it was, therefore it is useless to say what it is because you will be wrong, because it is no longer here on earth except in The Garden where God has sealed it I with angles with flaming swords

It was a fruit. Doesn’t matter what it was. In Heaven there are 12 trees each bearing fruit. Doesnt say what fruit. Doesn’t matter. -
When God looked upon His creation He said it was good, that included the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The evil was disobedience to God.
