Why do Catholics worship Mary?

It’s the deception of Devil to deviate from creator God.
We can clearly observe the blindness of Catholic Christians, how they can’t understand the Gods Word. -
We dont worship Mary – we venerate her as Jesus’s mother – but there are alot of catholics who do worship The Blessed Virgin Mary- but the Catholic Church does not teach that in the Catechism.

They will always deny it, along with their practices of idolatry, syncretism and paganism. Really, who are they fooling but themselves.

There are many reasons that are used to justify the role of Mary by the Catholic church. But here is a very clear command and x teaching of the Bible. “You shall have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3. This is even the first of the ten. To whom is prayer to be addressed, to God, right. Then why pray to one who is not God. She was a human being and still is a human spirit so how can she hear your prayers even see your venerating her and what for. I used to be a Catholic and got convicted of sin by praying to her by the truth.

There is a reverence towards the woman (Mary) who is the mother of God, but just like Joseph is never mentioned again, Mary should not hold a position of influence in the bible only in terms of what brings glory to God. Hope that helps.

Omnipresence, Omniscience, & Omnipotence (incuding the power to answer prayers) are the 3 main attributes reserved for GOD ALONE. Anyone even hinting just one of these to be possessed by any other person and even more, a human, is blasphemous.

Exodus 20:3= Have/worship nothing else but God, in Matthew 6:5-13 Christ taught me how to pray and I am following this doctrine.
Have you Catholics asked yourselves how this church came about by Constantinople? I guess you haven’t…..you hold on to one of this blasphemous doctrine of arsh Wednesday, in the Bible have prophet Isaiah not warned against this doctrine? Isaiah 58:1-6, the prophecy of doing away with the act of bruising and punishing our flesh for prayers to be answered was done away.
I was once a Catholic member with my generation but am happy I came out of darkness.
I was taught infant baptism but read 1peter 3:20-21, let the spirit guide you as you read it and let me know what you understand from it. There are more to talk but I draw my curtain here, read Colossians 2:8, James 1:5-8

I hear alot saying that she is not worshipped. However, many of the catholic church doctrines are very worshipping. She’s the “perpetual virgin”, “queen of heaven”. She can intercede for us with God (which is what Jesus does). If you pray to Mary, she is worshipped on equal grounds as God. These teachings are very non biblical

Not all Catholics worship Mary. Those that do are in direct violation of Scripture and even the first two of the Ten Commandments. “I am the way. The truth. The life. THE ONLY WAY TO GET TO THE FATHER IS THROUGH ME”….not Mother Mary, not St. Francis, not Pope Francis, and not Joel Osteen. ?

Mary did not remain a virgin forever. After JESUS THE SON OF GOD was born she and Joseph came together and had many children.

Becouse they think she (St. Mary) is heavenly mother (came from heaven) but she is a blessed mother of God in Earth. We know her holy mother and father so she is human like us but she is blessed and full of Grace, shade by holy spirit, pure for God dwell.
They bow down for her in Grace for respect. It because of some biblical prophecy. And St. Elsabet bow down for her but not only her, her holy son St. John the Baptist in her womb. -
I love my heavenly mother as i love my heavenly father, catholic forever,. If u have questions about catholic faith, ask a catholic theologian, and if u choose to believe in what he or she says its left for u if not, your choice entirely. Mother mary, queen of heaven, pray for us to our lord jesus that he shall bring the truth to us all in love and unity.. God bless u all.

Why would you believe that Jesus died for everyone, but Mary is chosen for one group of people? And only catholics pray to her?

We don’t. We honor her and can’t love her more than Jesus does. Do Americans worship the flag? No. In the same way there are reasons to give benefit of the doubt to 1.2 billion people.

Why is it required for penance to pray to her then? At the very lowest level we shouldn’t be praying to the dead. Isaiah 8:19 Deuteronomy 18:11 (among others) and Mary does not have any power to cleanse sin only God, so again why is it required to pray to her?

Religion practiced wrongly always tends to separate man from God. Putting intermediaries between man and God is usurping the place of Jesus our high priest.
Just as Jesus gave the strongest rebuke of all to the religious leaders who separated man from God, so the Catholic church did the same thing by creating a priesthood, and relegating sainthood away from common believers to whoever they determined as saints. All of this is an abomination.
Many of the beautiful cathedrals in Europe are dedicated to the “Queen of Heaven.“ This is an abomination. To say Catholics do not worship Mary yet they build an entire cathedral dedicated to her begs the question…
As late as 1950 the Catholic Church made it official that Mary was sinless, remained a virgin all her life, and that she was taken up to heaven and never died – the Assumption of Mary. This is an abomination.
Never mind it is pure stupidity since the Bible clearly says Jesus had brothers many of whom did not follow him in the beginning but later did. The first major leader of the church in Jerusalem was Jesus physical brother James – since the Jews always look to heredity for leadership. How can Mary have remained a virgin after having many other children?These are some of the reasons why the Protesant church was born! We are in protest of this abominable nonsense!

First want to preface this with stating that I am not a Catholic. Second when talking with Catholics or any other sect of Christianity, or even nonbelievers, it is important to know what each other believe and not what we think the other believes. Catholics do not “worship” Mary, they would say they “venerate” here, which is not synonymy’s with worship, it means to have great respect or reverence towards someone. Now do some people who claim the title “Catholic” worship here, I am sure some do, which is not OK at all, but their church condemns that as well. Also attacking the “perpetual virginity” is not a viable case since it was held by all protestants until about 100-150 years ago. Those who held the “perpetual virginity” doctrine and the “Theotokos”(Mother of God) include Martin Luther, John Calvin, the Wesley’s, and many more. Majority of protestant churches still hold to that and believe it, only modern Protestantism, which is labeled by “Non-Denominationalism”(Which I am) has abandoned those doctrines. If we do not properly understand someone’s belief in the first place, we only ruin our credibility and reliability for “Truth”. Please stop using strawmen, it only hurts your credibility.

Geez. It’s anti biblical to have other gods, let alone worship the dead. That’s occultism.
Also, the Bible calls her blessed not holy. Additionally, has anybody told them she wasn’t a virgin either? She did have more kids!
Lastly, she was a follower of Jesus too. In John ch 2 we see that Jesus doesn’t call her mother anymore but calls her woman, in a respectful yet establishing the change in their relationship.

A friend told me that they ask Mary to pray for them like you would ask a friend. However, since I’ve read the Bible I’ve never come across a single scripture that even mentions this is remotely possible, That people who go to Heaven are to be prayed to (saints) or that Mary is to be prayed to so that they may pray for you!. Also, my church once brought a statue of the virgen of Guadalupe. They sung to it, celebrated, even handed out food. It was a whole celebration. I really do not understand how they say this is not worshipping, let alone idol worship. I believe in what the Bible states, and it never says that we should do any of these things, it dosent even say that we should
Pray to these people to ask them to pray for us. Believe in the Bible word for word, people say that it’s because they believe that she appeared in some place to someone (don’t really know exactly) well the Bible says:“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.”

Wow! So much negativity and un Christ like messages. Focus on your personal relationship with Jesus, ask for forgiveness of your sins, and pray for your neighbors. Seek to be a blessing.

Yes. Just read some of the various Catholic prayers to Mary. If that’s not worship, then the first commandment against idolatry is meaningless.

A prayer to any dead person is necromancy. This is an abomination. The dead cannot hear prayers. But the catholics would rather hang on to their abominations and idolatry rather than repent because they love their idolatry. Catholic means all embracing, but God does not embrace sin. They must repent and put their full trust in Jesus Christ alone and not in their works.

They don’t have the commandment forbiding idolatry. They leave it out of the 10 Commandments and then split the covet commandment into two commandments.

Mary has no authority to intercede for us. Our one and only mediator is Jesus Christ. There is no scripture in the Bible that teaches us that Mary participates in our salvation in any way. She does not cooperate in the plan of salvation. She is not a co – savior and does not have the ability, nor the authority to redeem us in our sins. There is nowhere in the Bible that teaches us that Mary was assumed into Heaven. If one is depending on the veneration of Mary to provide forgiveness for one’s sins, one is going to be powerfully disappointed.
