I read a quote that described the Church of God as a denomination by a minister who had left the COG and had gone independent. The quote described the denomination as: “discrimination-prone church government structure so common in the south.”
Has the denomination changed from that? What are your thoughts?
That is not an apt description of the COG.
Wrong question….the question I would ask is WAS THE CHURCH OF GOD EVER LIKE THAT? You can’t go by one disgruntled pastors description.

It’s not surprising that a quote like this was from a minister who left the Church of God and became independent! Also, it’s the practice of Mr. Page (a minister who left the Church of God) to publish material like this quote — which is just another attempt to discredit the Church of God organization! However, they both need to know that the CoG is not just a Church of the South. There has never been discrimination, or segregation, in any of the CoG churches I have been a member of for over 55 years!
T. L. Lowery was a segregationist up to the 60s. Most COG ministers were segregationist and some still are.
