Could the two witnesses in Revelation chapter 11 possibly be two groups of people?

They are the old and new testament and the beast from the abyss is the French Revolution. Ivor Myers has a great sermon breaking it all down. It’s called the Beast from the Abyss if I’m remembering right. Check it out.

Unlikely, in the NT Jesus meets with Moses and Elijah on the holy mountain; I think these two represent the Law and the prophets

No possibility they are two groups of people always have been and in this day and age they are being silenced and soon there dead bodies will be left in the streets to rot without a single one of them calling upon the power given to them to call down fire from the heavens.

I can’t believe I am the only Christian on this planet who truly understands Hebrews 10:25. Cyberspace is not church fellowship. Both Stanford and USC believe the coronavirus is NOT more dangerous than the common flu. Shutting the church down is not based on science, but is based on the utter hatred towards God.

He Bible says it is appointed for man once to die. The only two who haven’t died are Elijah and Enoch.

They are referred to as lampstands and olive trees. Lampstands should be interpreted as churches from chapter 1. So from 2 churches 2 olive trees will come. Zacheriah speaks of 2 olive branches. I believe these will be peacemakers for the church since they speak outside the “temple”. They will bring the people of God together in unity by judging the synagogues. Just my thoughts though its apocalyptic literature.

Here’s an interesting spin on it…
The two witnesses will have power to call fire down from heaven and to turn the waters to blood. The only two to have done this are Moses and Elijah. Both appeared with Christ on the mount of transfiguration. Just because Enoch or Elijah didn’t die does not automatically mean they will be the ones. Remember…Lazarus lived twice and died twice. Not everything can or should be taken at face value in the Word of God. -
Not sure, if the Bible does not explain it nor should we. We get into trouble when we attempt to explain or justify something in scripture that is jest mentioned without explanation.
I will say a number of prophecies are spoken in metaphoric and allegorical language. The only reason we understand some of the prophecies of the Old Testament is they where fulfilled in the New Testament particularly those around the first coming of the Messiah Isaiah 9; and 53;
We should not attempt to explain the unexplainable nor assume anything not supported by scripture.

That’s one belief but Hebrews 9:27 it tells us everyone must die once which provides more leverage to Moses and Elijah. Also it’s apparent the two witnesses are in fact two singular people because further in the chapter it talks about people looking on at these two witnesses while they lie dead in the street.

Many times in scripture we see whole cultures being epitomized in one man. All of Samaria being epitomized in wicked Ahab. This is what we see in Christ. He is the fullness of the godhead bodily. The two anointed ones who prophesy in Jerusalem during the tribulation are described as an olive tree and a candlestick. The olive tree represents the Old Testament church that is Israel. The candlestick is representative of the New Testament church today. Which means, every good thing concerning Israel preaching the word of God and every good thing about the NT church preaching the word of God will be epitomized in these men. These are Israel and the Church in their fullness bodily, but they will be men and not a group.

I find this portion of the scripture very interesting where God says you don’t know who these are we should know who these are I do not believe that it’s two prophets of old that are going to descend do we not possess the word of God are not the words of God that proceed forth out of our mouths like fire

As far as we know, in all of human history, there is only 2 people who have escaped that universal condemnation or curse.
Elijah and Enoch
It’s not a group (IMHO) because the 2 men are slain and 3 days later rise into the sky.
