Ephesians 2:8
https://www.gotquestions.org/gift-of-faith.html
Romans 12:3
Every thing, every breath is a gift from only one source!!! Jesus consistantly referred to faith individuals had in Him as “their faith”. Adam and Eve placed their faith in the wrong person. Jerusalem was lamented because they refused or were unwilling to believe. Stick with SCRIPTURE. It was given to all of us.
Yes. Ephesians 2:8-9; Rom. 12:3; John 6:29; Acts 3:16; Romans 3:11; Phil. 1:28-29
Is a lack of faith God’s fault?
Yesss! ‘For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God’– Eph 2:8
Hebrews 12:2 mentions Jesus as the author and the perfector of our faith, so yes 🙂
Philippians 1:29 is very plain that faith is given. ( i.e. a gift). Human pride and tradition try to deny giving God the glory He deserves.
Read through John 6. It’s about man’s inability to come to Christ. We are Given to the Son by the Father. ALL who are drawn come and are not cast away.
Faith is a substance .
It works like a pill if one takes it. Yes , It is greatest and first gift of all other gifts. It looks less likely to be a gift and more likely to be a fruit..,
? percent Yes. Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:8
though it’s a gift, the question shld be, where do faith come from: It comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God…..Rom. 10:17, So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
1 Corinthians 12:8-9 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/1co.12.8-9.ESV
According to this verse It is a gift of God…
Absolutely. Filthy Rags can’t and won’t clean themselves.
All good things are of God:
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
James 1:17 NIV

Even Paul stated that men have not faith because only Jesus is the Author and the Finisher of our What? Hebrews 12:2
faith.,……
Yes. Romans 12:3
This explains it well – https://www.desiringgod.org/messages/those-whom-he-foreknew-he-predestined
According to Ephesians 2: 8-9 faith is absolutely a gift from God
So the Calvinist see the gift as Faith while non-Calvinist read this gift as Salvation….. https://www.christiancourier.com/articles/716-is-faith-the-gift-of-ephesians-2-8
Is Faith the Gift of Ephesians 2:8?
The passage cited above (Eph. 2:8), as a proof-text for the idea that “faith” is strictly a “gift,” does not, in fact, teach that idea at all. The text reads as follows:
“For by grace have you been saved through faith; and that not of your selves, it is the gift of God ….”
There is no specifically-stated antecedent for “gift” in this context. However, it is to be inferred. The gift is the salvation that is implied by the verb “saved.”
“For by grace are you saved through faith; and this not of yourselves, it [the salvation] is gift of God….”
Grammatically speaking, there is no agreement between “faith” and “gift.” Faith (pisteos) in the Greek Testament is a feminine form, while “gift” (doron) is neuter gender. The “gift” is not “faith.”
Some have objected to this argument, contending that the Greek noun for “salvation” is also feminine, thus it cannot be the antecedent of “gift.” While it is true that the Greek noun, “salvation,” is a feminine form, the verbal construction found here used in connection with a neuter pronoun (“this”) requires that the antecedent must also be neuter, thus, “salvation” [understood], not “faith” (see: Lockhart, 86; Cottrell, 200).
Professor Arthur Patzia of Fuller Theological Seminary, who believes, “theologically” speaking, that faith is a gift, acknowledges that “the Greek sentence [Eph. 2:8] does not permit such an identification, because the two words differ grammatically” (185).
Even John Calvin interpreted the “gift” of this passage as “salvation,” and not faith (144). This, of course, is in perfect harmony with Paul’s declaration elsewhere that the “gift of God is eternal life” (Rom. 6:23).
“looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:2 ESV
Author of our faith?perfecter of our faith? Jesus.
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Romans 10:14, 17 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/rom.10.14-17.ESV
It’s both – Gods faithfulness and your faith … hebs 11.6 says without faith it’s impossible to please him
There really is so much confusion on this and I just don’t think it serves a worthwhile purpose.
Eph 2:8-9 is quoted often.
Ephesians 2:8 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
The question for me is, what does the THAT refer to? Grace, faith or both?
If you deconstruct the sentence, grace seems to be the subject and ”through faith” seems to be a qualifier of grace. (I haven’t master my native tongue to know how to properly deconstruct that sentence)
I’m not going to pigeonhole the Bible to mean something I’m not sure of.
I’m for rejoicing that my name is recorded in the Lamb’s book of life. Not whether it’s printed or cursive.
Well according to scripture faith come by hearing and by hearing the word of God. This is how faith in God comes. Like anything you have to hear about it before you can chose whether to believe it or not. We all watch the news they run stories and we most of the time believe them because we trust them “not saying we should but we do”. There is a gift of faith mentioned in scripture but that is from the Holy Spirit and so is to those that are already in Christ. Scripture also tells us that God has given to all men the measure of faith.
Romans 12:3 King James Bible
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Revelation 2.13
Hebrews 12:2- Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of OUR FAITH!!!
YES VERSE 9 OF 1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. 6 There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. 7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 and to another the [d]effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the [f]distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God
A gift given, such as faith, is no longer the possession of the giver, but the receiver. The receiver then becomes responsible for the gift received.
ROMANS 12:3
Faith is one of the top free gifts God has given us
Faith and hope are here on Earth temporarily
The gift of love is eternal therefore love is the greatest because love is 4ever and faith and hope are only needed short term
Saved by grace through faith; this [faith] is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. ‘This’ is referring back to faith not grace. But also grace is a gift. This is one way we know faith is a gift from God.
2nd in Greek grammar faith is an OBJECTIVE definitive, not a SUBJECTIVE definitive. I’m not sure how to explain it, but I learned this from Lewis Berkhof systematic theology.
The question is crazy…sorry to say pls ….
If you ask if faith is a gift that means you are saying Grace and faith are the same…
God always puts the onus on us. “You have not, because YOU ask not”
Are you asking seriously or are you bored and want attention?
Grace is from God… Faith is from hearing the word of God. The chance to hear was given as true Christians were instructed in Matthew 28 to preach the Gospel. But some people will not hear as their ears wanted to hear unsound doctrine 2Tim 4.
uh oh here come rhe calvinists
Faith comes from hearing the word of God. Google it.
James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Yes it is a gift from God. Note Ephesians 2:8-9,
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast”
And so too is repentance I might add. Note Acts 11:18,
“When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.””
And 2 Timothy 2:25-26,
“God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.”
Both repentance and faith are gifts from God, therefore what do we have to boast about in our salvation? What can we add? Absolutely nothing. Soli Deo Gloria.
I Phil.1:29 states that to suffer And to believe are Gifts from God!
God gives us faith. Romans 12:3.
1 Corinthians 12:8-9
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
[9]To another “faith” by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
Faith does come from God because its by hearing the word of God that faiths comes. His word is spirit and life to us and health to all our flesh.
