No. Lent is not found in scripture, but is an ancient tradition of the Church. It is a spiritual preparation for the joy of Easter, and it’s 40 days represent the 40 days Christ was tempted in the desert. So, as a tradition, it’s observance is certainly optional, but there’s nothing ‘wrong’ with it, IMO.

Yes. There is no Biblical command or example to celebrate Ash Wednesday. Another man-made ritual.

Being Catholic and observing Catholic ‘works’ and observances don’t make you less Christian if you are truly Christian, but be aware most are not in the Bible or required by the faithful. Catholicism as a religion is just about as far away from biblical as you can get and still be thought of as Christian in a scriptural sense. Don’t hate the messenger, truth is the truth whether believed or acknowledged. ?♂️

All opinions all good ones. My opinion, Ash Wednesday, Easter, Christmas none in the Bible, but we as Christians In some way celebrate them. Do your thing if it is the name of our father, or fills you with joy. Just not required for our salvation and not in the Bible. At least that’s my answer is I do things in our father name and glory. Everything , everyday belongs to our God.

Well, in the Old Testament, to show remorse and sorrow for sins people would sit in ashes and wear sackcloth. We no longer have to do this, but if someone is compelled to put ashes on their foreheads, there is no harm. It’s one of those work out your own salvation parts.

What is the history of aah Wednesday?? What are the roots and times of it?? Just beginning questioning of any question I tend to use.

As an Ex-Catholic, plenty, at least for me. This is a ritual brought forth from the RCC. I help the priest cook the leaves to get the ash. I still can smell it. When I was saved I renounced all of that. To me, if I were to go through that again, I believe it to be a sin for me.
