One of the most beautiful and comforting promises in the book of the prophet Hosea has been completely turned on its head and made out to be utter non-sense in many versions.

King James Bible – “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: REPENTANCE SHALL BE HID FROM MINE EYES.”

ESV 2001-2011 – “SHALL I ransom them from the power of Sheol? SHALL I redeem them from Death? O Death, WHERE ARE your plagues? O Sheol, WHERE IS YOUR STING? COMPASSION is hidden from my eyes.”

Note the changing of the promise of God to redeem them from death into a Question and a Threat in the ESV – “I WILL redeem them from death” to ” SHALL I redeem them from death?”.

Then we have the textual change from “I WILL BE thy plagues…I WILL BE thy destruction” to “WHERE ARE your plagues…WHERE IS your sting?.

And last we have the total change in meaning from “REPENTANCE shall be hid from mine eyes” (I will not change my mind, but will surely do it) to “COMPASSION is hidden from my eyes.”

See the whole article here and why the KJB got it right, as always –

How can you tell which one is right? What did you use to compare them? Is it because it isn’t saying what you want them to say?

The change of context to qualify for a newer copyright!!

So do you support the 1611 KJV that came complete with the Apocrypha? Do you realize they did not use the earliest manuscripts? Why don’t you show us the original Greek and Hebrew texts? They were obviously more the original languages of that day. Answer: we don’t speak that way anymore, just like we don’t say “he who pisseth against the wall” anymore, like the KJV to refer to males. This argument is not promoting Jesus Christ. If you choose to use the KJV, great, but please stop the divisive narrative

Corrupt translation just like so many that come from the revised version!!

I don’t think this is factual. I looked up Hosea 13:14 in the ESV. It is not asking questions like you stated. It is making claims. Same as the KJV.

Also textually speaking KJV is an inferior translation. It is still good. I find it very purposeful. But it doesn’t hold the textual reliability as well when compared to other translations. Of course this is only according to theologians scholars and academics. I mean it is the KJV that says God is created evil. Which we know God doesn’t create something against His nature. And the creation of evil would be an evil act. Something else God doesn’t do.

Bob White, who himself has NO Bible in any language he can show us that he really believes is the complete and inerrant words of God, says: ” So do you support the 1611 KJV that came complete with the Apocrypha? Hi Bob. Several things in your comments that are misleading or just flat out wrong.

First, will you admit the fact that you have no Bible in any language you can show us that you really believe is the complete and inerrant words of God? Yes or No?

Second, when you bring up this Apocrypha argument, you end up cutting your own throat. Here is why.

Why was the Apocrypha in the early King James Bible?

Thirdly (for now) the phrase “passeth against the wall” is what the Hebrew text itself actually says and the KJB is far more accurate than the fake bibles that nobody (including you) really believe are inerrant.

What about the phrase “and that Pisseth against the wall”?

Read with the mind of the SPIRIT and u will see that everything is intact. To death, He says He will be a plague or destruction. To man He will be their redeemer.

Anyone who believes in there being only 1 true Bible I have found to be legalistic. And secondly; I would rather rely on the Holy Spirit doing the convicting rather than man.

I have been known to read the Geneva Bible. It is a faithful version that the reformers used. The KJV holds the messianic verses that some modern translations omit. I have read scripture in Greek and Hebrew. The idea is to understand God’s communications to mankind.
Scripture says that God is not pleased when good is called bad and bad is called good. I trust that a faithful adherence to the ancient texts will be a faithful guide in living our daily lives. It issue is who’s authority do you follow.

Hi Ralph. I agree that the gospel can be found in all bible versions and God can use them to bring his people to faith in the Saviour. However nobody seriously believes that any other Bible in print is the complete and inerrant words of God except the King James Bible believers.

And it certainly is not true at all that “No doctrines have been changed”. There are many doctrines that have been changed or watered down or corrupted in the Fake “bible” versions.

Here are about 40 examples of how the modern versions pervert the truth of God and they contradict themselves. This is how we know they are false witnesses.

Fake Bible Versions DO teach and pervert several biblical doctrines, and the infallibility of the Bible (any bible in any language) is a huge doctrine that most Christians do not believe anymore.

IF the modern versionist actually BELIEVES what his fake bibles teach, then he does believe in false doctrines and has erred from the truth.

Here are about 40 concrete examples of the falsehoods taught by these fake bible versions. Examples – God can be deceived by men (NASB, NET), Man can speed up the coming of the day of God (NIV, ESV), Pride and Boasting are Christian virtues (ESV, NASB, NIV, NKJV), Satan controls the world (NIV), ghosts – meaning departed human spirits – exist (NKJV, NIV, NASB, ESV) and There are different races of men and some races are mongrel races (NASB, NIV)

“For ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.” Jeremiah 23:36
