The Scripture tells us that we can’t seek God on our own, that’s true. We can, however, cease to continue in our unbelief and finally stop running away from His grace. This verse implies that unbelief is an active work, while discontinuing it is a passive response

Just because you are saved by grace doesn’t mean your actions can’t be judged

Judgement of believers determines rewards/crowns. Heaven is not a reward it is a right as a result of repentance and faith in the Saving Atoning Work of Jesus.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9This ultimately shows that faith is what is required. If works were what was required, then people would boast in those works and say “Look at me, I did this”.
And if you look in James 2, you would see that our faith produces works. But a faith without works is a very weak, dead faith.

The good deeds aren’t determining eternal destiny. Our response to the cross does that. While on earth those good deeds are an evidence we have allowed the love of God to penetrate us through the cross, so others will see evidence we have been saved. Why? Because God knows talk is cheap. Anyone can claim to be a Christian whether they are or not. There is nothing stopping Richard Dawkins from uttering the words “I’m a Christian” but that wouldn’t make them true. Works are the proof of what you claim. A natural outpouring of salvation, not a component of it.
The second thing works do is in eternity. They determine our rewards. This is only for those who are saved, so salvation isn’t one of the rewards offered. You have to already be saved to get to the rewards stage. But good works are the bricks our homes are made of, with salvation as our concrete foundation. Our works will be tested, and if found wanting, we ourselves will be saved but not the fruits of any of our pointless, godless labors.
So in both instances, works aren’t what determine your eternal destiny. That is already decided based on how you freely choose to respond to God’s offer of salvation through the cross of Christ. Works are an evidence of salvation and a source of reward for the saved. But never a path to salvation itself.

We do good works not to receive salvation, but we do good works because we are saved.

1 Cor. 3 Says we build on the foundation of salvation in Jesus with gold, silver, precious stones (a temple for God), or with wood, hay, stubble (a temporary habitat for ourselves). When it is tried by fire the effort for God will be our gain, the effort for self will be our loss, but the foundation will remain.

What exactly is repentance? Do we automatically stop sinning?

Our salvation isn’t earned it’s given by faith and grace, but after salvation you will be judged by what you did with that salvation. *Great White throne judgement. So you can enter heaven with many works or few works.

It’s not salvation that’s earned by good works. Once we are in heaven, we will be rewarded by our good deeds

Heaven isn’t earned, but we all will still be held accountable for our words, deeds, and lack of action; the difference is will you be dealt with as a child of God, or a rejecter of Him? Two separate courts.

The saved will have recompence for their righteous deeds, this is after salvation and apart for it. Just as damnation comes from NOT BELIEVING, not due to sin. and they receive punishment for ther unrighteous deeds, apart from their condemnation.

Yes those that are saved are judged on good deeds and works. Salvation should lead to good works. A good tree produces good fruit.

We are save by faith alone but that faith produces works of righteousness, works that are wrought by the Spirit within us not by the flesh. There are the works of the flesh and there is the fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:15-25)

Let me tell you something. You contribute NOTHING to our own Salvation, except the disgusting SIN that makes Salvation necessary.
If you have the blood of Christ covering you, you aren’t judged by the good or bad deeds you do, because Christ’s blood has already been judged as RIGHTEOUS and since His blood redeems you, when God sees you, even when you mess up from time to time, He only sees the perfect, finished work of His Son Jesus Christ upon you, and is well pleased.
However, you WILL be judged for the evil things we do if you are not saved and don’t have the redeing blood of Christ covering you.
As far as good deeds go, I’ll put it this way: A husband doesn’t do things for his wife because he has to, but because he WANTS TO, out of love.
In the same way, any good works Christians do is because we know doing good pleases the Father. He gave us His Son, how much more then should we HAPPILY give our lives in thanksgiving to Him? He rescued us from eternal damnation and let us live with Him!
If a guy gave you a million dollars when you were homeless, you’d be EXTREMELY grateful.
Once we truly understand what God has done for us, we should gladly live our lives in a way that pleases Him.

You’re judged on obedience as a believer and follower of Christ. Good works are results that come out of salvation, salvation is not the result of good works.
