Both God used different covenants during times and if you only look and one and not the other then there will be an imbalance in your doctrine and Theology.
Eg.
God established a covenant in the garden.
God did give a covenant with Mose and the law.
And so on. -
‘The Greatest book of Dispensational Truth’ by Chales Larkin covers the Dispensations and God’s Covenant with Abraham and Jesus’s Last Supper cover the Covenants. Larkin’s book is very good as he laid the main topics out in picture form, an excellent overview of the whole Bible. He made a mistake however in incorporating Evolutionary ideas in his first topic, The Creation.

Full Preterism is the true teachings of scripture.

All prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus’s day. There is No Rapture. No Tribulation. The book of Revelation is allegorical. They are for the most part A-Millenialist. Polar opposite of Dispensationalism. Because most of their belief system is “works” oriented, they show little regard for other Eschatological Doctrines. That my friends is a snapshot of Preterism.

Full or hyper preterism is heretical seeing they have to redefine to many things like the bodily return of Christ and resurrection. Dispensational says take everything in a wooden literal way but they don’t do thst consistently. I think the partial preterist view is the way as it says all things were fulfilled except Jesus return to judge the living and the dead

“Relationship” theology. Remember Cornelius the Roman centurion in Acts 10. He was faithful in prayer and alms giving yet was not a member of Israel, nor ever had the gospel preached to him. It was not until God met him in a vision to call for Peter, was he baptized and believed unto salvation. But it was the relationship that was built prior to his full conversion.

I studied both, and I chose Biblical theology in our context.

I reject dispensationalism for being a fair new doctrine that is less than 200 years old. Its teachings demonstrate a lack of understanding of how to read the scriptures in the context it was given. As for covenant theology, I’m not sure what it teaches although I firmly believe that “God is covenant” and does nothing outside of covenants. Besides that, I don’t know what this theology teaches.
