Technically no they are not. But it’s not righteous. Nor is it ever an option for a deacon or priest.

Yes… If you’re talking about Christians then yeah. Per Christians new covenant men are commanded to love their wives as Jesus does the church… Jesus does not have multiple wives.

Ephesians 5:22-33 refers to “wife”, NEVER wives (plural). Keep in mind that when the 66 books of The Bible were written, the authors didn’t want to waste time thinking of all the ways man could create new sins.

it’s hard to say Kevin . their r parts of the bible that seem to be okay with it . yet , other parts of the scripture appear to frown on the idea . my advice is to stay away from the practice . if the lord wants us to know more about it , then he will reveal it to his church .

Νο, polygamy serves a social need, when there are fewer men around, when polygamy is not allowed, there is widespread fornication and adultery.

And God didn’t make Adam more then one wife either.

Biblically, if everybody is married and nobody is divorced, it’s not adultery. The New Testament basically mandates monogamy through the church leadership as it is the ideal and normative way of doing marriage – but biblically you can’t exactly have polygamous families becoming Christians and then demand that following Jesus means choosing which one of your wives you should divorce. It just means they can’t become leaders.
Taking additional wives is in itself a sinful act, but divorcing them afterwards is far worse.

Well, King David was the apple of God’s eye and he had multiple wives. It’s good to be King.

As a Christian if you are not married or are married. You can only have one wife. Anything else is adultery. If you are not a Christian and you are a polygamist and you come to Christ you are to take care of all your wives and children. It is not classified as adultery.

No. Only problematic if he fornicates with a married woman. There’s no scripture condemning a man for adultery or polygamy.

That’s. What the word means. But we are all helpless siinners but that doesn’t give us licence to act contrary to God’s pleasure.

Bible is clear having of one wife. Any thing outside of that it’s a sin (adultery).
Btw a marriage which should be a touch of heaven on earth, the HUSBANDS will give an account to God.

Whom God has joined together let no man put in sunder….If a man married 3 wives and decided to divorce one to remain with one….is he guilty of the sin of divorce….since he has one more wife….?

Something to think about…it says that if a woman is divorced she is not to remarry because that causes them to sin, so in effect the divorce is man’s law and in His eyes she is still married and would be committing adultery. So polygamy is a sin

The Lord formed Adam and Eve to be a couple, only one man and one woman. The Lord Jesus Christ never accepted polygamy.
In the Torah, polygamy was a public relations tool in order to make political and military alliances, not a commandment of the Lord.
In the Torah, adultery was punishable by stoning. A married woman or a married man committed adultery when she or he had sexual intercourse with another married person or a single person.

Yes. God won’t even recognize beyond the first marriage. So they will be looked at as adultery.

If we take it into our Christian faith, it sure is adultery. But if we take it in their own faith such as Islam, its normal for them. Just saying…. So basically, it depends on the perspective.

I see no referencs in the NT that gives provision for the taking of “wives” and/or “husbands.”

Yes! Jesus said very clearly that marriage is between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN when asked about divorce and written about in both Matthew and Mark. Genesis 2 established marriage as being between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN. ALL sexual intercourse outside of one man and one woman marriage is SERIOUS SEXUAL SIN. Sexual sins are mentioned and condemned more then most any other sin.

The fact that polygamy was practiced in the Old Testament certainly does not make it right. The Old Testament portrays reality; the good and the bad. Polygamy is not portrayed as working very well at all. It caused jealousy, envy, and strife between wives and between the children of the different wives. It is NOT God’s idea.

Paul while giving instructions to Timothy about appointing Bishops found it worthwhile to ensure that he ( Timothy)choses only church members with one wife. What does this mean? That there were members in Timothys churches who had more that one wife and Timothy was advised not to chose from them .
1 Timothy 3: 2. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
Paul also said, Christ has liberated us from the guilt of big laws and we still want to be subject to small laws.

Being technical adultery is lusting after someone not your spouse.
If you have two spouses and you list after them, it is not adultery, because they are both your spouse.
Now the question should be, if you are married to one spouse, how can you get a second spouse with out lusting for them before you marry them, while you are already married?

Lust is for self gratification. Love is a great reason to marry. I do not see how any man can love a woman as a wife without getting her consent to simultaneously marry again, to which she would most likely say no anyway. Paul reminds us that a married man’s body belongs to His wife as far as sex is concerned. In other words, he is reserved for her.
