Did Ray Hughes believe in sanctification subsequent to the new birth? Or did he believe in sanctification the way it was taught at Lee College? The Church of God is divided on this subject and most people go with the view of progressive sanctification, what did Dr Hughes believe? Does anyone have the answer for this?

I don’t know what Ray Hughes believed, but sanctification is both instantaneous and progressive.

I really don’t know how he believed. But since I have been in the Church Of God. They have taught Born again or Salvation. And Sanctification, then the Baptism Of The Holy Ghost. With t evidence of speaking in Tongues. I have never heard them teach progressive Sanctification. I know they would teach , if you stray away , or get cold in the Lord , you needed a renewed. I have always heard them teach you needed Sanctification before receiving the Baptism Of The Holy Ghost. I believe when someone is born again. You have to grow. Like a baby drinks milk at first. Then they can eat baby food , then solid food. Then the meat of the word. I don’t think you should expect a new born child of God. You should expect them to act like someone that’s been living for the Lord for years. They have to learn and grow. That’s my thoughts.

Not to change the subject but is there a difference between the new birth and regeneration? The church of god declaration of faith speaks as though it is two separate events. But no minister I have talked with can explain it.

Actually I don’t think I have ever seen it in the Bible just like it calling it the New Birth. But John 3: 6 -16. It talks about being born again. Which means the same thing. Born again is a New Birth. Jesus told Nicodemus. You must be born again. That’s a New Birth. We are Born one time in the fleshly body. And the second time is a Spiritual Birth. Or excepting Jesus as your Savior. Regeneration :!!! Explains it in my Theology book. And the Bible.as a secret act of God in which He imparts New Spiritual Life to us ;sometimes called ( being born again. ). Which is the same thing as New Birth. Because when we give our hearts to God. It is being born again. Or New Birth.

The Bible tells us To Work Out Your Own Soul Salvation. With Fear and Trembling Before the Lord. Not RAY H HUGHES. YOU CAN’T LIVE YOUR LIFE BY SOMEONE ELSE’S BELIEFS. I agree with Nathan Ridgeway sanctification is both instantaneous & progressive. I have seen both.
