Talk to them. Answer their questions. What are you having a hard time answering? That would be good to ask the group. This is such a broad thing. People have so many different reasons for not believing.

You can go with atheist Paul Davis factors for life to evolve on Earth, which he calls “coincidental factors”, the calculations and odds him and other scientist came up with was 1 x 10 to the 400th power. A number bigger than all the atoms in the observable universe. So ask if those are the odds they wanna go with for everything coming from nothing into chaos and then somehow became ordered. Before you engage in conversing about God’s Existence. I would ask to that person if He is open to God existing at all because if not you’d be wasting your time…
While it’s true that God is revealed nature and people suppresses the truth, its still important to LISTEN to the person asking the question.

I choose to use a different approach to explain the existence of God.
Life itself is an extension of the nature of God.
Science can not even define or explain it.
The intrinsic value of life exists however can not be accounted for in a materialistic atheistic worldview.
Only God can provide life and give life it’s value.
The biblical theology speaks to this directly.
I also use the ressurection argument as it seems to Athiests to be the most difficult to show when in reality it is very easy.
I also speak to the fact that 81% of people will choose to believe something false even after being shown it is false & belief / disbelief is far more emotional than logical for most people. I then ask them if they will change thier mind if I show them convincing evidence. -
Well if they’re atheist, and they were just bashing Jesus, I was trying to defend him. But I eventually realized that I definitely wasn’t going to sway them in any way and it was only going to be the Holy Spirit. So I’ve been incessantly praying for them Sonya Blade

Give the so called atheist a challenge:
Challenge the atheist to disprove the resurrection. And say if he can disprove the resurrection then they would have disproven all of Christianity.

Look up at the Night Sky. Creation proves God exists. Look at DNA. Look at the hundreds of factors like the strength of gravity, which if it was off by 1% life as we know it would be impossible. Think about water. Every material known to man shrinks when it gets colder and expands when it gets hotter, except for Water. Water shrinks when it gets colder until it hits 4 degrees, after that it starts expanding. Which is why ice floats. If not, streams, rivers and lake would freeze from the bottom up and that would make life impossible.

Honestly if you have presented the Gospel to them, they will argue and insult you until dooms day. The only way they will believe is allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to them. There is strong historical evidence for G-d’s existence (acts in history). There are philosophical arguments for G-d’s existence. Their are ethical standards with point toward a divine order. The one thing Atheists lack is an imagination, intuitive logical reasoning beyond the scientific methodology that takes into consideration the possibility that G-d exists.

We actually too often cave to the idea we have to prove what we believe. We need to flip the conversation. If you are positive that my belief is false, then you should be able to prove God does not exist. If you can’t, then there must be on some level an uncertainty as to whether my belief is false or possibly true.

First, Its written in the Bible. Do you want to prove how authentic is the Bible? Read the Archaeological discoveries, science History, that support the authenticity of the Bible . Secondly, preached and proved by Jesus Christ who was once living here on earth 2000 yrs ago. We can read about him mentioned from the Ancient historian writters, including Talmud, the rabunnic writtings. Thirdly, the existence of the Jews, formerly the Isralites. It’s from them that God was introduced. We only followed after them. So if theres Jews, there is also God. God and Jew embeded each other.

There are probably 2000 apologtics books I could place into your hands. They together provide a preponderance of evidence that overwhelms opposition. Books on RNA and DNA, “Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics,” “The Fate of the Apostles,” by Sean McDowell, “History of the Church,” by Eusbius.

I would say 2 put the onus on them and ask them to prove that God does not exist. Their answers will always give you an opportunity to share the gospel. This may be a more important thing to do when to argue no matter how fervently or cogently existence of God

First I ask the atheist to prove the statement “God does not exist” is false. Then I ask him why he demands a material evidence for an immaterial supernatural being. That’s genetic fallacy, like asking “What’s the taste of blue?” You cannot perceive God by the 5 senses because God is not part of the natural world. God created nature. He is not part of nature. It’s too shallow to use the 5 senses to feel God.

God gave us Bible prophecy to prove that these words are from Him, and every single one of them up to this point in time have come true with 100% accuracy.
The very fact that Israel exists as a nation is proof of God’s existence because not only did it cease to be a nation just as Jesus said it would, it was reborn as a nation just as the Bible foretold and if you care to do a little bit of math, the Bible actually tells us when Israel would become a nation again right down to the year and month. -

We don’t necessarily prove God exists. What we do is explain the dating of the books and how they foretold events hundreds of years before their fulfillment. It is up to the hearer how they chose to process the info and prayer on our part that the Lord open their mind and heart to be willing to consider the possibility. Ultimately, it is our grace to them no matter how they initially respond that helps. Most times it’s only planting a seed. God will give the increase if they long to know there is something more than what their life has been thus far.

What information are they willing to accept?
The existence of Deity is self evident.
Spontaneous generation is impossible; evolution is a lie.
That leaves special creation.Even Intelligent Design recognizes the reality of deity; but ID doesn’t deal with who deity is or what is required of the creation (humanity).
Have them prove they are omniscient. Because if there is anything they lack in knowledge it may be the evidence for God.
Ultimately it’s a heart matter and blindness only the HS can correct.

Creation is evidence of a Creator. A building built 100 years ago didn’t build itself or come together by chance in a random act. A book thats woven together with relevant pictures and words wasn’t put together by just taking a bunch of paper and ink and swirling it together. It’s all done with intent, with purpose and intelligence. Same with us. We live because God created us. Not stardust or anything else in the universe…

Come on brother! You just walked in to a blasphimous court room where God is on trial and you need to be His defense attorney. God’s not on trial, that athiest is. Romans 1 tells us that all men know that God exists. They simply suppress that truth in their unrighteousness. Creation testifies to a Creator and God’s law is written on that atheist heart. Causing him to know right from wrong. There for he will be without excuse on judgment day.

There are 3.1 billion base pairs in human dna, if you believe in evolution which is random and there is potential of 4 options at each base pair, then the probability of any sequence of human DNA would be 1:4 to the 3.1 billion power. Plug it into google you’ll get infinity which means it’s impossible. The smallest genome would be mycobacterium which have 20k base pairs which would give you infinity also. If he back tracks and implies that it is some how guided naturally then he has just presented a Hand of God dilemma.

As per Frank Turek one shouldn’t always jump to answer a question we don’t fully understand with out asking more questions. It’s important to answer what the question the person has and not blurt out what we think we assume..in this case I would ask, on what basic foundation is there proof or evidence that God doesn’t exist in your mind?

Proverbs tells us it is usess to argue with fools. Romans tells us creation itself gives mankind no excuse for disbelief. Paul couldn’t even talk with the philosophers. Jesus said we have to become like little children to enter the kingdom of God. Pray for them, let your speech be seasoned with scripture (no need for references, unless asked), and let them see you loving God and others. Do good to them. The world is watching us, they hold Christians to a higher standard while they curse us.

They believe in the natural laws. They believe that action causes reaction. Rays of sunlight, comets, seeds, kittens, an asteroid floating across space, anything living or nonliving that is material and natural, has to have been caused by something else. Thus the first thing, whatever it was, needed a first cause. That cause would have to be sentient and acting purposeful. Both complexity in the microscopic scale, the biosystem scale, the galactic scale and the universal scale shows that reality is a constant, complexity and order is seen throughout, and the natural laws are both Universal and continuous. All of these things suggest design, thus we need an intelligent designer. Also, whatever created time space and matter has to exist outside of the material, AKA be immaterial, and not be measurable or understandable by human Minds since finite cannot understand the infinite, and that Designer must be timeless, AKA uncreated Creator God. More so, the law of energy proves the need for a Creator God that is Supernatural. Natural law of energy in energy can neither be created nor destroyed. If something has begun its existence and nothing natural can create it oh, it has to have been created by the supernatural, AKA something extra natural, AKA God. At this point, atheists will foolishly argue that energy or things can exist without having started. Remind them that existing is a process, and that anything existing had to have logically started existing with a fixed origin point. Next, remind them that the only thing that keeps imaginary things from being real oh, is that they haven’t yet started existing. Ask them if Santa Claus would be real if he started existing. This is how something goes from unreal or imaginary to becoming real, it begins its existing at a fixed origin point and continues that processes of existing as it moves forward. So, again, If energy cannot be caused to exist by the natural, it had to have been created by the supernatural. Whatever was the first thing needed at first cause. The first cause had to be all-powerful, all-knowing and purposeful in design or else the natural laws would not work within the natural world. More so, the first thing would not have started its beginning. The laws themselves could not exist without a lawgiver. The very idea of the laws shows that an action had to happen, for anything in the universe to be a reaction, living or nonliving. Science proves this. In fact, all signs points to God. Most specifically, energy could not begin existing on its own, yet it did begin existing or it would not exist now. It cannot be created by anything natural, according to science, yet it exists. The only other option is energy was created by the supernatural. all science points to God.

The only way to not be an atheist is through the same means those of us are not. In order to help one, there are three pointers:
1. Primary through God’s word.
2. Secondly, nature is very loud on being the work of its creator. Intelligent design. Look at a key and the lock, then look at the amazing compliment between the man and woman’s sexual reproductive organs, doesn’t that amaze one. Can’t one see the intentionality of design there. Or Look at the fuel dispenser ‘s knosal at the gas station and the car’s fuel tank opening, it would be foolish to claim that is by accident. Because design and purpose can clearly be observed in all three designs.
3.Thirdly the void in the human’s heart that longs for its creator or simply the desire and search for meaning found in every souls. Everyone longs to have meaning and purpose.
Ignore those three pointers and one can sure keep on the road of atheism.

Simply preach the gospel and tell them the reason why you believe what you do. Pray that the Holy Spirit will open their heart to believe, as he did with yours. To them the gospel is foolishness and will remain so until God opens their heart. It can only be spiritually discerned. It’s not an intellectual issue, it’s one of the heart, the core of the man.
The gospel is been made simple that a child can understand it. 1 Cor 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:So it’s up to us to discuss the gospel, the reason for the gospel, man’s predicament and man’s response.

They already know He exists, and they will tell you that fact. Listen for truth claims and pronouncements that certain things are “evil”. As soon as they claim to know anything for certain or say something is bad/wrong, you’ve got them on the ropes.

I’ve been it personally shake UNbelievers world’s upside down and inside out. Those dead set against ever believing, now are believers hungry and thirsty for the Word. You and I do NOT have the slightest ability to convince people of a spiritual renewal and to give them new sight and hearing. Prayerfully share the Word. Just do it. Study (be prepared) an argument that proves the existence of God like the moral argument and make sure it will end up in sharing the gospel. The goal is to win the atheist to Christ not just to win an argument.

Oh yeah I completely forgot y’all. Within the conversation he basically stated that Christians are idiots because we believe the earth is flat(?!?!) so bizarre. I had never believed that nor never heard of that argument. I think he was eluding to the verse that angels will be at the 4 corners of the earth. So I’ve always imagined it to be that they will be in space at the N,W,E,S areas around the earth. Any other ideas/help?

You don’t. I can’t be done. One may be able to prove some lesser god, but not the God of the Bible. The God of the Bible is almighty. One cannot prove almighty. You might say, “Well look at creation. Would it not take an Almighty God to create it?”
No, it wouldn’t. Sure it would take a great god of enormous power to do it, but that’s not the God of the Bible. God does not have just enormous power; He is All-powerful. You can’t prove that. By your comments it does not sounds like he understands what God is like. I would ask him what kind of God does he not believe in. Most likely his response will declare a god nothing like the true God in the bible. I would then let him know I do not believe in a god like that either.

When we look up at the Sun do we see a line as if the sun were flat? Or the moon, do we see a line as if it were also flat? It should be obvious to mankind that God who made the heavens and the earth knows how He created them and even our own eyes bear witness to their circular shapes in the sky. So when an eclipse occurs, if the earth were flat could it block out a circular moon in a circular shape.

Well, if you are a presuppositionalist, just quote the Bible.
If you are a classical apologist use your deductive arguments.
If you are an evidentialist, quote a lot of hearsay evidence from the Bible and then muster all the subjects that can be studied at the university to support why your second hand testimony should be admitted in court.
If you are one who trusts in subjective experience, just tell them your conversion experience and how God has worked in your life from that time forward. -
Before you talk to them you must know if they’re seeking for truth or cynic to other belief because you will only waste your time on their close mindedness. Pray a lot for wisdom.

Ray Comfort is a street preacher, apologist, and talks to atheists alot. You can learn a great deal from him. Also, look up how Ravi Zachariahs explains the gospel to non-believers. He was the best apologist in the world.

God is Logically necessary. Self creation of the universe from nothing is ilogical.
Logic requires a Mind. Logic is the mother of all sciences and knowledge -
You cannot prove any god exists. Religions rely on blind faith alone. Often the way theists attack atheists is to demand they prove their god doesn’t exist. That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence. It’s the fallacy of religion. Shifting the burden of proof is a type of argumentum ad ignorantium fallacy in which a person thinks that something is true until proven false.

One of the first challenges out of the mouth of the skeptic when confronted with the Gospel is often a demand for proof that God exists in the first place. “You prove God exists, and then we can talk about becoming a Christian,” or something along those lines.
To the Christian, being asked to ‘prove’ God exists is like being asked to ‘prove’ air exists. Just as the fact we are alive and breathing makes the existence of air self-evident, to the Christian, the fact there is air is proof of the existence of the God Who created it.
Where does one begin? How about a choice? We can look at the evidence for God’s existence and believe that He is there, or we can set aside the evidence and decide that there is no God.
But in the final analysis, there are only two options:
Option One: God DOES Exist
Romans 1:19-20 puts into words what Christians instinctively know in their spirit:
“Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”
The more science learns about our universe, the more scientists are reluctantly forced to acknowlege the existence of Intelligent Design. That the universe demands a Designer as obvious as a wristwatch requiring a maker or a dictionary requiring an editor.
Then there is the existence of human conscience. It exists as an inner voice that allows the person to follow his best judgment and highest instincts. It is unique to humanity, and it is that conscience that demands to know about God.
(After all, if the atheist or skeptic didn’t desire to know about God, the challenge would never have been offered in the first place.)
The Old and New Testament Scriptures speak in behalf of God in a manner that is consistent with the evidence of God in both creation and conscience.
The very existence of Christianity after two thousand years, built entirely upon the life and death of a 1st century Jew named Jesus, is evidence of the existence of God. So the the miraculous preservation of the Jewish people and their restoration to their homeland 2000 years after they were dispersed.
Option Two: God Does NOT Exist
The Bible says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.” (Psalms 14:1)
Quoting that Scripture to a skeptic might be accurate, but if you can’t back it up with facts, you might as well keep it to yourself. Nobody likes to be called a ‘fool’, especially by a God they don’t believe exists.
But the skeptic’s arguments AGAINST God, when examined closely, make a stronger case for Psalms 14:1 than they do for the non-existence of a Creator God. Compare what God says about the one who says, “There is no God” to the arguments they offer to ‘prove’ it.
1.) Our world, with all its resources, complexities, and orderliness came about with no personal impetus, cause, or source. Everything just happened.
2.) The laws that govern our universe have developed without guidance or direction.
3.) Great and almost magical leaps were taken along the evolutionary way, allowing nonplants to cross the chasm to become plants, and nonanimals to become animals. Without guidance, these beings developed brains where nonbrains had been and sensory organs where nothing like them had been.
4.) Randomness accounts for the delicate, unique composition of our planet that makes possible our existence on this oasis of life in the desert of a hostile universe.
5.) Man is without a spirit. His existence ends at death, just as it does for dogs and cats.
6.) Any morality that man possesses is contrived and societal in origin. Therefore, no one can be expected to make value judgments for others, and the human conscience is instilled by social structure. (Refer back to #5, above)
7.) The Bible–a Book that was written by 40 diverse men who lived over a span of 1,500 years, kept separate records, recorded events independently, and told a remarkably singular story–is an incredible coincidence.
8.) There is no master plan for mankind. Our existence is an accident, our work on earth is fruitless, and our relationships with one another are ultimately meaningless. Like a pack of wild animals, we have no other purpose on earth but survival.
9) Christ was not telling the truth when He said He was the Son of God who came from heaven to rescue us from eternal death and bring us to God.
10) Neither were the Twelve Apostles, all of whom suffered loss of family, friends, community, and ultimately death, for the witness of Jesus.
But when they died for the ‘witness of Jesus’, they were actually EYEWITNESSES to Jesus, His Life and His Death. They either saw what they saw, or they ruined their lives and ultimately suffered torturous deaths for what they KNEW was a fraud.
“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.” (Psalms 53:1)
Calling an atheist or skeptic a ‘fool’ isn’t an insult. It’s an undeniable statement of fact.

In the first Chapter of the Word of God, we are introduced to the Creator God Who claims responsibility for the existence of both the Universe and all Life on earth. Science acknowledges that before the Big Bang there was nothing. And, the Law of Biogenesis, established in 1864, declares that “Life comes only from pre-existing Life.” Neither the Universe nor Life could have spontaneously, accidentally or randomly appeared via Natural forces. Both required Supernatural intervention. There IS a God!

There is no need to prove but to present an option: believe it or not (John 20:29). Our Lord Jesus Immanuel Christ did not argue with the devil. So there is no need for us to prove that our Almighty God exists but declare that He is a loving Almighty God (John 3:16).

Excerpt: She once was blind, but now she sees — a peer-reviewed medical journal has published the extraordinary case study of a woman whose eyesight was spontaneously restored after prayer for healing. It’s the latest example of how researchers are increasingly using scientific methods to investigate claims of miracles.
The study details the medical history of a woman who was blind for more than a dozen years from juvenile macular degeneration, an incurable condition. She had attended a school for the blind, used a white cane for mobility, and read braille.
One night at bedtime her husband, a Baptist pastor, got on his knees to pray. He put a hand on her shoulder as she laid on the bed. They were both crying as he prayed: “Oh, God! You can restore … eyesight tonight, Lord. I know you can do it! And I pray you will do it tonight.”
With that, she opened her eyes and saw her husband kneeling in front of her. “I was blind when my husband prayed for me,” she said. “Then just like this — in a moment, after years of darkness I could see perfectly. It was miraculous! … Within seconds, my life had drastically changed. I could see, I could see!”
The woman’s eyesight has remained intact for 47 years since the “proximal intercessory prayer” (PIP) — that is, Christian prayer for healing with accompanying touch.

Elizabeth, since you requested help in “talking to atheists”, I think it’s best to take the Socratic method. Rather than promoting arguments for the existence of God (There are no pure proofs per se) Ask “why” questions, “How did you come to that conclusion?” etc.
Try to stay away from making claims and assuming the burden of proof, but rather strive to have a real conversation that will uncover what intellectual obstacles are in the way of belief in God. Once you’ve uncovered the real objection, then you can focus on a robust argument to help them better understand. Always remember, the most eloquent argumentation may not convince them (see Acts 17:32) so don’t be discouraged.
Most importantly pray for the Holy Spirit to enlighten you and soften the heart of whom you are speaking.

Proof? I don’t think that’s possible. I was just visiting with my atheist friend whom I’ve known since the 4th grade. I think the only thing we can do is give our testimony, live a good example, and show lots of love. Beyond that, it’s between them and God.

Atheists have a much greater faith than Christians. A look into the universe and then into the human body and to not believe their is a Creator takes a lot more Faith than I can imagine.
