One of my favorite professors at Lee was Dr. French Arrington. He came by to visit with me at my church in Ohio. I took my Greek II under him and really enjoyed reading the NT in its original language. It was the beginning of a wonderful thing. Later, I taught Greek. I used it while in my Master’s and Doctoral work. I still study from it today. The Koine Greek language is so rich, but yet so simple that it can be easily understood. On Judgment Day, the books will be open. One of the books is the Holy Bible. A person must apply himself to know God’s Word. Let me give an example. The Gospel of John 1:15, “John bare witness of hims and cried, saying This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.” There are two BEFOREs in this verse. However, they are not the same Greek word. They are different words, even though the English translation is simply “BEFORE.” One means Before in TIME such as “Before Abraham was I.” The other Before means “Before me in RANK such as “I am the Captain of the Lord’s host.” Jesus is the “Captain of our Salvation.” Just as a Captain is a higher rank than a Private, Jesus is the “King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords.”

Wow
I wish I knew the Greek language. But to me that Scripture is easy understood except the last part , Rank and Captain. Altho I never thought of those two words. I knew enough enough to know Jesus was higher than the highest. He Lord of all. I look a lot of things up in materials I have. And foot notes in different Bibles and compare them. But I always take the one who gives Jesus more Honor. I didn’t go to college. Except once I started in taking computer and I thought it was to hard. Then I was going to take an income tax trade. I didn’t like it either. But my Husband finished that course. But I dropped out of it. He went to a Bible college when we h in Chicago Ill. I would loved going there. I had children. And couldn’t go. So I’ve got my Bible I’ve got Spirit filled. I think church of God put out. I’ve got Jimmy Swaggart study Bible Dakes , Thompson Chain, and Nave’sTopical Bible. Spirit Filled is put out by Nelson. That’s just the ones I use most because they have study references
He was one of my favorite professors as well and had a wonderful family. I loved to hear Dr. Arrington and Dr. Gause discuss areas of theological difference.

I sat with Dr. Arrington for three years of New Testament Greek, earning a Minor in that subject. He later would come to our church and preach from our pulpit. I also sat under Dr. Goss in my bachelor’s and master’s program. Great men, both.
I remember Dr Cross. But I don’t think I remember Dr Arrington. But Dr Cross was a great Preacher and leader.
