its like a flat spinning frisbee
-
That hangs in space, yes
-
In the end it doesn’t matter, what matters is that we spread the saving word and grace of Christ and not bash one another for how we interpret non saving issues…
-
what i think is so crazy is those who believe in the flat earth today with all the proof the earth is a globe.
-
I’ve never really felt like the Bible was clear on many things since there over 1500 different versions of Christianity and the majority of flat-earthers are Christians.

Accept by Faith the Word of God
-
It doesn’t call it a spining ball anywhere that I recall nor does it call the world flat like a pancake or dish.
-
Look at the earth if you want to know it’s size and shape. How much simpler can it be. Nonsensical controversies do not glorify God or promote loving your neighbors, or helping the sick and poor.

Accept Bible in faith not in facts
-
Oh, the Bible is clear about Jesus. My only worry and concern, is my salvation, not if the world is flat or round. I will say it again, this is not my home. #HeavenBound

Isaiah 40:22 English Standard Version (ESV)
22 It is he who sits above the circle of the earth,
and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers;
who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
and spreads them like a tent to dwell in; -
No. Not very clear. God makes some things very clear in the Bible, but not most things.
-
The phrase “circle of the earth” in Isaiah 40:22 can easily mean “sphere” in Hebrew as well as English. The Hebrew word “raqiya” and the English word “firmament” both simply mean “sky” despite all sorts of silly claims that these words are referring to a solid dome. The issue is not so much whether the Bible teaches that we live on a spinning ball, but rather does it at all teach the contrary. The answer is no.

Over 200 verses says it flat. Do as I did research flat earth and try and debunk it. It can’t be done
-
Heliocentrism is a religion
-
I am not sure that it is clear on that. It doesn’t clearly say anything to contradict that, and there are verses that you can point to that seem to support it, but who cares? Honestly, it was written with Theological issues in mind, and there isn’t things that are factually wrong in it, which is a whole other debate, but neither do we need it to address things that were not a concern of the time. The Ancients didn’t care about this to the extent that they would include it in the Bible.
-
Keep in mind that much of the Bible is figurative, and symbolic, also poetry; Jesus spoke in parables and used lots of allegory. The Revelation uses a unique genre called Jewish Apocalyptic language that is explained in the Old Testament.
Anybody who says that “the Bible clearly says it, and that settles it” obviously has no clue what the Bible really says.

Yes it does! We read in Isaiah 40:22 that God sits above the Circle of the Earth. It was evident by Bible scholars, even back then, that the Earth was not flat but was Round! There is so much in the Bible that took man centuries to wake up to. The Bible was ahead of its time then, as it still is today!!
-
scripture doesn’t specify it being flat
-
It’s not clear. It says things which can be interpreted to support both sides.
-
The Bible wasn’t written to describe the Earth as anything other than something God created to put people on. Looking to the Bible to support either flat earth or ball earth is pushing it past it’s purpose.
-
Who cares and why does it matter
-
Whatever… but i don’t believe in globe ball that spins at the speed of 1000mph
-
The Bible is also clear that the two atoms of Hydrogen and One atom of oxygen is the composition of water.
-
This is one of the times science and religion work together.
The world is ROUND.
Its round in the Bible and its round from every scientific aspect, including space where astronauts did not report people or things falling off the edge of the world.
I do not understand how clear thinking people can possibly believe differently. -
-
Why would you even use a 2000 year old book to tell you that!?
-
Yes it’s a spinning ball just like this one.
-
I’ve yet to see any scripture that the earth is a sphere. In fact most scriptures that provide any detail indicate that its flat. A flat circle. I honestly don’t know what the shape of the earth is, however just as with evolution, “scientism” has led many astray for some time. I’ve looked at both sides of the issue and to me at least it doesn’t make sense that we are on a spinning ball moving at 1000 mph and do not feel any motion. So until I can go up high enough to see it for myself I will just say I don’t know about its shape, but I will say we are definitely not spinning and hurtling thru the solar system at 67K mph, which is supposed to be hurtling thru the galaxy at 517K mph, which is also said to be traveling the universe at about 1.3m mph and we don’t feel any motion…thats nuts. There is so much more that doesn’t make common sense about all that but it just gets deep.

The Bible is not a science book.
Those that approach is as such prove their own lack of reasoning. -
I’m not sure what the point of this post is? There are lots of things NOT in the Bible, I’m only concerned about what is in there.
-
Can you tell me the shapes of any of the other planets we know about?
-
Yep. This is the straw that broke the camels back. I’m done with these idiotic exchanges. The way people act on here gives Christianity a black eye.
-
Right
-
We live on the promises of God and they are true.
-
Science is a good thing
-
The Bible doesn’t address it, strangely it doesn’t cover making nylon or Java programming either
-
What’s your point ?
-
The book of job says the bible hangs upon nothing. Scripture says the stars are as the sands of the sea. While not a book of astronomy or geology when it does talk about our planet it is correct. While many thought the water flowed off the edge of the planet in the sea the bible says it returns back to where it came from. It also says that the things that are seen are made of things (plural) that are unseen. Guess what real science (not science fiction stories ) verify these statements.
-
The Bible is not a scientific book. Nor can we arrogant about what we know, since what we know is much more because of the work that’s been done before we were brought into life.
-
Mostly a conversation with little to no benefit. Flat or round would change nothing. It’s still all about Christ. Prove Him to be true.
-
Eratosthenes.

Isaiah “he sits on the circle of the earth”
-
Not clear
-
The earth is flat
-
Dear globers, please consider my point with an open mind.
If “we are spinning at approximately 1000 mph” then how is it possible for me to set eyes on any given star of my choice, and I can stare at it for hours on end?
The truth is we are not spinning. -
he sits in the circle of the earth. Isaiah somewhere.
