Can I Support a Missionary? Part Four
Part Four: Ok, So What Will It Cost Me?
Luke 12:42:
“And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.”
The cost is up to you. The poor widow gave all she had. The Bible says the Lord loves a cheerful giver. Seek Him and He will direct you as to how much to give.
We have many faithful partners who give from $1 per month to other individuals and churches who give much, much, more. There is one donor and his wife who are beyond faithful. Having received extra income from overtime on his job they considered taking a little trip. But, they decided to instead give to missions to support needy missionaries. What a blessing that was and what a blessing they will receive for their sacrifice. Most of the support World Missions receives is from faithful donors who have partnered with us for years.
I know the budgets for our missionaries and, believe me, they will not get rich. Rich, that is, by monetary means. They conduct missions services at churches to raise their budgets to go to the field; they normally raise enough funds for at least one year to sustain them while on the field. When missionaries receive furlough, it is supposed to be a time of rest and reconnecting with family. However, while on furlough, they have to continue raising their budgets so they can return to the field.
The cost to you is far outweighed by the cost of the needs of the people where a missionary labors.
