The Believer’s Access to God

When I think of access to God, I picture a servant approaching a king in his throne room and bowing before him. Paul spoke of “access to stand (a face-to-face position) in God’s presence. The Greek word for access is prosagoge, meaning “the act of moving toward or bringing to.” Scholars note that the French word for this is entree, which refers to a subject who is properly clothed and brought into the presence of a king. As a modern analogy, picture Christ as a waiter who has prepared us in order to present us before the royal table of His heavenly Father. What is on the tray the waiter carries is the entree. Through Christ we are presented before God, after being forgiven through His blood, clothed with His righteousness, and given direct access to God and His heavenly throne room.
