My primary objective is to better myself. My secondary objective is the betterment of the group. My ultimate objective is the betterment of the church through the challenge of One’s understanding of Truth.

If done in the right spirit, we need a place to challenge each other and refine our beliefs. Iron sharpens iron.
I’m sure we can all agree that it’s our goal to be more like Christ and win the lost for the glory of God. -

I joined this group to improve my Eschatology, picking up the good points and ignoring the non-biblical, even sharing my view to some subjects. I’m sharing the Gospel in a very poor community here in the Philippines, no allowance, no salary because my small church is poor. Winning souls, yes, but I don’t judge those who don’t believe. God bless us all.

Do you not see how judging ‘everyone” here by telling us to repent and calling us lukewarm is a problem. I’ve never seen a short statement reveal so much about a character of someone that immediately discredits anything else they have to say. This is the wrong group for you

I understand what your are trying to say, and I agree on principle. But I wanted to point out you are doing the same thing and making a judgement call in labeling them lukewarm Christians in need of repentance.

This is a highly valid point. We don’t have to win arguments. We plant the seed, the Holy Spirit waters. Levels of cognitive thinking and spiritual thinking are different areas of thought process that can indeed overlap, but faith is never about purely cognitive reasoning.

Sharing the gospel involves a certain amount of trust and credibility.
“Preach the Gospel at all times. When necessary, use words.”

What does this even mean when we are to walk in TRUTH?.
Is you ego wounded because you haven’t studied or been taught the word?
Why is your perception that a person is starting an argument when they shed LIGHT on something? ?
Is that a PRIDE thing? You should want to know the truth.

A good idea for you is to not waste your time here scolding people and go to sites that offer the opportunity to win souls as you say, Or better yet, get off the the internet and win souls out side of your house..down the street..in your village, town, city…wherever you see the lost. We are a body..and it sounds like that’s your function in the body of Christ.

I think you are completely right. As you can see, the people you are talking about get stirred and make excuses. The thing is, they don’t know that it’s them that you are about.
It’s about testing The Spirit. It’s stunning how many people are scolding you with laughing faces, using aggressive language all while holding to their own innocence. They claim you don’t know scripture and they don’t understand why you used hearts in your message. They don’t understand what Paul said about doing things in love. Knowing scripture doesn’t save you! Satan knows scripture! He uses scripture! Just saying that you “believe” God exists or Jesus exists and died for sins… That doesn’t make you saved! Those saved understand. Those that need salvation will be angered by this, but they never changed their hearts. Never reborn.
On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

The people who think they are too good to repent. You were not born perfect so you must repent. Its simple Christian core belief. By telling the entire group to repent this person is being like Jesus.

While I do agree that the goal is not to win arguments, the lukewarm Christian would not bother themselves with Christian apologetics.They are so busy being lukewarm, they don’t even attempt to speak out regarding their faith.

Apologetics means to defend.
This group is literally titled “Christian Apologetics.”

The free discourse of beliefs and sharing illuminations of scriptures is what this page and the writing of apologetics is about.
If you want to win souls, share your testimony of what God has done in you. If you want to personally grow and skillfully defend the faith, study. BOTH are essential.

We all can learn from Ravi. Question the questioner. Love the questioner. It’s not about thumping everyone with facts and knowledge but how you go about that. There’s wisdom in our approaches. Being faithful witnesses > winning arguments.

Yes, that is the ultimate goal. But giving good arguments and evidence clears the way for acceptance of the gospel. Without them, intellectually inclined non-believers can always fall back on the supposed irrationality of religious belief.

Paul and Peter debated over why Peter was eating with the gentiles. Should we say that they were lukewarm?? A debate is not an argument an argumet is foolish a debate means your defending a specific cause or bealief. By the way their debate took place in Antioch Galatians 2:11-13.

It is called apologetics. And you win souls by defending and propagating the faith in demonstration of power and love.

Stop using the term “lukewarm” with Christians, there is no such thing and that scripture reference (Rev 3:16) is used completely out of context. Christ was talking to a whole church not individual people…

The goal of debates is to prove who is better. The goal of apologetics is expound the truth. Thus one may be debating, the other party exposing the truth.

We are bot here to win souls. We are here as evidence.

Nothing wrong with the one, it’s necessary to fellowship and share truths and let iron sharpen iron as we test the Word against the many theological constructs that supposedly represent truth. Many doctrines of men create inconsistencies that we need to weed out.
Yet, we must always be aware of souls that the Holy Spirit is giving opportunity for us to lift up the one who brings salvation for. Jesus, Yeshua, for He shall save His people from their sins.

Interesting, I think it’s actually both. Winning debates plants seeds and debates do NOT have to be malicious or disrespectful. While this is social media and that happens routinely, there are many scholarly and mature debates that take place all the time. The bible ALSO tells us to be prepared with an answer to anyone who asks about the faith in us. Now people DO get passionate (I’ve been 1 of them and there are countless others). It’s bound to happen when we’re talking about religion, something as sacred and emotionally charged as this. Some people even insert “tones” since this is social media and refuse to consider the fact that some questions are sincere and not malicious in nature. I ask these questions all the time and even attempt to answer these same questions. I think that telling people our job isn’t to win arguments and taking it to the point of characterizing those of us that do debate as “lukewarm Christians” is actually pretty arrogant since you don’t know me (for 1) from anyone else so you can’t honestly make that assertion with any legitimacy. Interesting, because we’re also supposed to EXHORT each other in our lives and the duties of the gospel. You might want to re-evaluate yourself OP.

Amen, the only purpose of biblical arguing is to win souls. Even so, it should be coming from a place of love, compassion and not pride.

You can learn from arguments. Knowledge is needed to be able to win people’s hearts towards Christ. It’s called wisdom.

For me it’s not simplistically arguing what some are doing, they are correcting and teaching which are both part and parcel of healthy church interaction. As long as those involved clearly know where the dividing line between godly counsel and prideful knowledge lies, it’s all good. I myself have been recepient of some bit of disagreement but I don’t treat them as plain opposition to my stand. As long as we know to respect each other as individuals who are in different stages of spiritual and ecclesiastical maturity, let’s keep edifying each other to strengthen each one’s faith and the bond of Christian brotherhood. Unity in that sense pleases the Lord.
