Check what you sing, they easily become your mindset.
How can a man that God lives in sing songs like ‘draw me nearer’ or ‘draw me close to you’.
Brother in Christ, you can get any closer: 1 Cor 6:17 But He that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
You are one spirit with God.
Oh Glory.. God is at home in you by His Spirit .
1 Cor 6:19: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Singing ‘Draw me close to you’, will not get you closer. It will reduce the consciousness of you oneness with Him and you will struggle with acknowledging that He abides in you.

The intimacy you seek is in acknowledging the truth of the scriptures that God is at home in you.

Unlearn wrong knowledge.
Stand firm in the reality of redemption.
You are one with God.

If someone feels like they are falling away, those words like “draw me close” are a cry to their Father to comfort them. Everyone is not at the same intimacy with God. The very fact that we even pray to God signifies that although He is in us, we still acknowledge our need of Him. I think I see what you are trying to say, but it feels like you are making a point that minimizes our personal relationship with Him. Why pray at all? Because even Jesus, who is One with the Father, prayed, often, even crying out, “if it’s Your will, take this cup”.

Brother Akolade I like your way of reasoning it challenges everything we know or used to! Perhaps you can look at it in both ways, God lives in us yes! But when you read Romans 7 then you’ll understand the struggle between the will to do good and sin. We need to be drawn to God everyday, that’s the work of the Holy Spirit, to keep us closer to God. Maybe if we embrace both views of God as imminent and transcended can help us understand why we must pray ‘draw me close’ because God is not only imminent but He is also transcended!!!!!

That’s just plain absurd..we sing those song to draw a closer walk with Him…that’s just crazy talk. I’m amazed with folk..I thought u were gonna said or talk about worldly songs..but u talk about hymns like it’s ungodly..that’s crazy..the oneness with self UNGODLY..yah..Christians should do the new age stuff..repent!!

Great song. I also love “8 days a week” by the Beatles, but it doesn’t have an effect on my mindset about the week, which actually has 7 days. These lyricists merit a degree of poetic license.

It is called “worship” by our Creator. He is worthy of praise all the time, especially when our souls call for it. Worship draws us closer, at least for me.
