If you have a child and that child makes a horrible mistake is that still not your child? Do you still not love that child? Disappointed, yes, but still your child. If you are saved you are most certainly going to mess up but that doesn’t mean your no longer a child of God. Working out your salvation is meant to say we will never be perfect but each and every day we should strive to be more and more christ like. Salvation happens the moment you believe and ask God into your life. Sanctification is a life long process.

Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe him. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.” The Word also is always teaching us to beware temptation, false teachings, and other things that could lead us astray. This is a dangerous question, alot of disagreement. In the end OSAS people say you can’t lose it but, like the pharicies, you may never have truly had it, but you believe you do. So it’s really not helpful but to make you feel good in my opinion. Therefore I think the conservative view is to be assured that Jesus died for us and extended his hand we just have to grab it. Read Matthew chapters 5,6&7 and believe Jesus died for your sins, the holy spirit will do the rest.

I believe that you can but it is not easy. Through sins deceitfulness and continued un-repentance, the human heart can eventually no longer hear God’s voice. That would be if someone continues to be indifferent God and they no longer respond to the spirits voice in their life. Eventually that person will lose faith. If that is the case, grace can no longer be applied because: It’s by grace we’re saved through faith. Eph 2:8,9

Scripture teaches that one’s final salvation depends on the state of the soul at death. As Jesus himself tells us, “He who endures to the end will be saved” (Matt. 24:13; cf. 25:31–46). One who dies in the state of friendship with God (the state of grace) will go to heaven. The one who dies in a state of enmity and rebellion against God (the state of mortal sin) will go to hell.
In John 15 Jesus states that it is possible to be taken out of him and thrown into hell. He says that the Father himself will do this. So while in John 10 it is the Father who keeps one from being snatched out of Jesus’ hand, in John 15 it is the Father who removes one from Jesus.
This allows us to build a more complete picture of how the believer’s security works. According to Jesus, if someone comes to him, he will not cast the believer out. Neither will he let anyone pull the believer away from him against the believer’s will. But if the believer fails to bear fruit and abide in God’s love, God himself will take him out and, barring repentance, the believer will end up in hell.
The security of the believer is not unconditional. We have a conditional security of salvation—conditional on our bearing fruit, keeping Christ’s commandments, and abiding in God’s love. If we do these things, no one is going to snatch us away, and we will never be turned away.

Btw: for those who say “they weren’t really saved at all,” the language of scripture does not dictate that inference: that they were perpetrators or frauds— it specifically notes that they had been changed by Christ, escaped sin and bondage, genuinely, and then Went back to it. So no, it’s not that they were never saved, but they, as scripture states, RETURNED to a life of sin. And it is worse for them, knowing the truth, to reject God, than you have never known God from the beginning…

The real question is why do people ask this question?
Obviously there are a sect that believe, yes you can, a sect says no. Both sects have valid scriptures to back them. This has been argued for several years. This is a mystery that our minds cannot fathom. But why do people ask this? Instead of asking this, I believe we must ask, how do we respond to this gift of salvation? How do we bring people into the kingdom. And assuming the worse state that I can actually lose it, how do I not lose it.

If, you are saved by grace through faith (Eph 2: 8 -9) then salvation is not dependent on you. If you are a new creature in Christ Jesus (2 Cor 5:17) then you have been made entirely new and once that happens you cannot go back. The Father doesn’t look at your sin, He looks at Christ righteousness, always, so even though you may sin, you don’t live in a place called sin (Romans 5 and 6). The doctrine of eternal security( once saved, always saved) = can a believer fall away? Hebrews 6:4-6 =if their life-style remained relatively unchanged. Christians returning to their old ways. This verse points to the danger against hardness od heart that would make repentance inconceivable for the sinner.
“If you live after the flesh,you shall die..they profess that they know God,but in works they deny him being…disobedient…”Titus 1:16
After believing,one must keep on believing. If we keep on believing,we are secure,if through unbelief(the result if sin and disobedience) we depart from the living God., I believe we are in jeopardy (lost).I believe it is posible to go back into unbelief and thus be lost–even after having believed. It was not a matter of works versus faith” –it was a matter of believing(by which we are saved) or unbelief( by which we are lost) WHY WOULD GOD WARN US ABOUT THIS IF IT IS NOT POSSIBLE?
John 8:31 = Jesus does not give us freedom to do what we want,but freedom to follow God.As we seek to served God. 2 Peter 2: 20-22 = Peter is speaking of a persons who has learned about Christ and how to be saved, but then rejects the truth and returns to his or her sin.this person is worse off than before,because he or she has rejected the only way out of sin,the only way of salvation.like a person sinking in quicksand who refuse to grab the rope thrown to him or her.

Is it possible to be lost after being justified.?? YES ROMANS 8:13. “If you live after the flesh, you shall die…John 8:24 A fleshy (carnal)lifestyle can lead one into deception. “Lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”(Hebrews 3:13) Sin and carnality sear the conscience and harden the heart.(Serious Warnings) -
