USA defaults to historic isolationism, and a new European Union (Beast) must now be forged

Proverbs 21:1 (KJV):

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”

Not a self-professed man of God, perhaps, but apparently God’s man for the moment, Donald J. Trump, is a tornado of disinfectant that is not only turning America upside down but the whole wide world. Some prophecy watchers say his actions appear to be setting the stage for the climactic Act III of Bible prophecy. In other words, knowingly or not, Trump is hastening the prophecy narrative.

At unprecedented speed.

In his relatively few days in office, he has ended illegal immigration, rooted out incomprehensible levels of federal waste and fraud, instituted tariffs (the government was financed by tariffs before income taxes began in 1913), and, in his spare time, renamed bodies of water and mountains.

Perhaps most significantly, he has taken a strong stance to end the Ukraine war and achieve peace, something the previous administration never attempted or even mentioned. This will make for a stronger Europe and an emboldened Russia, key figures on the prophetic chessboard.

The latest catalyst was the Spat Heard Round the World, Zelensky versus Trump, Oval Office, February 28, 2025, cameras rolling. “Good television,” the president quipped. At the White House seeking more entitlements, without apparent gratitude for the $350 billion (Trump’s number; real number may be $175 billion) already received, Zelensky received a dressing-down for the history books.

Behind the audacious and compelling theatre was, nevertheless, Trump’s sincere and strong desire to get America out of foreign entanglements. “I’m for the United States of America,” Trump said in rebuffing Zelensky who was asking who Trump was for. Ukraine was seeking “security agreements,” i.e., USA agrees to fight directly for Ukraine against Russia, and Trump wasn’t having any. He ended the prospect in a very public way, and for Zelensky, a very humiliating way. “You’re fired,” was the most succinct summation possible here. In so doing, Trump appears to have turned American foreign policy upside down in one meeting, in one Oval Office dress down, and in the longer run, this may have prophetic implications.

Interestingly, he called Zelensky a “dictator” (he shuttered media and churches) and said “he should have never started it (the war).” True again. Trump has a knack for telling the truth, it appears. Look for this one next: Few realize it, but NATO’s (America’s) policy since 1991 has been to expand eastward right up to Russia’s borders (Ukraine, Georgia). (If Russia established bases in Mexico and Canada, how would the U.S. respond, one may ask?) Meanwhile, though few know it, led by the CIA, Ukraine has been the aggressor vis-à-vis Russia, starting with the Maidan Affair (2014). Trump seeks to bring its aggression to a swift end and a Pax Trump, if you will, across the whole globe. This is the calm before the storm, the “peace and safety” before sudden destruction.

It is the Lord who turns the hearts of kings, Proverbs tells us, and we are seeing it in dramatic fashion now on the daily, even hourly, news.

What are the implications of a fast shutdown of the Ukraine War? And the resurgence of American isolationism, its historic posture? These events may force Europe to bind more tightly together, get stronger militarily, step into its role as the revived Holy Roman Empire, and from there, the Beast Power of Revelation.

The 10 Toes of Daniel’s Image and The Holy Roman Empire

Scholars take the Euro-Beast notion from the book of Daniel. The prophecy of Daniel 2 describes a colossal statue seen in King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, which the prophet Daniel interprets as a timeline of world empires leading up to the end times. The 10 toes of the statue, specifically, have been linked traditionally by prophecy scholars to a revived Holy Roman Empire or a future global confederation.

The statue had five distinct sections, each representing a different kingdom in world history:

We know who the first four world kingdoms were. The mystery lies in the final stage—the feet and 10 toes, which are made of iron mixed with clay. Who is it?

  1. The 10 Toes: A Future Confederation?

Symbolism of the Iron and Clay

  • Iron represents strength (likely the remnants of the Roman Empire).
  • Clay represents weakness and division.
  • The mixture suggests an empire that is partly strong but unstable.

The 10 toes symbolize 10 future rulers or nations that will form a confederation in the end times before Christ’s return.

Connection to the Holy Roman Empire

  • The Holy Roman Empire (800-1806 AD) was not a centralized kingdom but a loose confederation of European states under the authority of the Pope and the German Emperor.
  • Some believe that a revived version of this empire—possibly in the form of the European Union or a future 10-nation alliance—will emerge as the final world power before the return of Christ.
  1. Biblical & Prophetic Interpretations
  • Revelation 17:12 speaks of “ten kings” who will rule briefly and give power to the Beast (Antichrist).
  • Some scholars see a link between these ten kings and the ten toes of Daniel’s image. (However, a new theory has been put forth that these may not be territorial kings in the traditional sense, but rather may be 10 globally-minded oligarchs – think Elon Musk, Bill Gates, George Soros or son, Klaus Schwab, or successor and their like – time will tell; we see through a glass darkly, indeed).
  • The historical theory is that a revived Roman Empire (possibly in the form of the EU or another political bloc) will play a major role in end-time prophecy.
  1. Is the EU the Fulfillment of This Prophecy?
  • Some believe the European Union (EU) is a modern attempt to reunify the former Roman Empire.
  • However, the EU has fluctuated in membership (currently 27 nations), and no solid “ten-nation” structure has emerged.
  • Nevertheless, some speculate a future restructuring of global alliances could produce a literal 10-nation coalition.
  1. The Best Part of the Prophecy: The Rock That Destroys the Statue
  • In Daniel 2:34-35, a stone “cut without hands” smashes the statue, destroying all earthly kingdoms.
  • This stone represents Jesus Christ, the chief cornerstone that the builders rejected. His return and the establishment of God’s kingdom is the smashing.

How does The Great TV Spat change things?

What evidence do we have that the Zelensky-Trump spat is forcing European leaders to rethink their positions? Statements from foreign leaders came out at once:

So far, both French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have emphasized the need for Europe to take greater responsibility for its defense, advocating for increased defense spending and closer military cooperation among EU member states. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock characterized Trump’s behavior as indicative of a “new era of ruthlessness.” She called on European nations to uphold international law, defend their interests, and bolster support for Ukraine. Other smaller states had similar reactions. This shift aims to enhance Europe’s strategic autonomy and ensure a robust response to external threats – on their own versus relying on the USA.

Finally, a top military official weighs in: Germany needs a new form of military service to meet its defense demands, says Lieutenant General Harald Gante. He argues that the Bundeswehr, Germany’s armed forces, cannot rely solely on volunteers and requires conscripts to handle homeland security and alliance defense. Gante warns that Russia may attempt to restore its Soviet-era influence and stresses that only credible deterrence can prevent this. The Bundeswehr awaits the government’s decision on reinstating conscription, which was suspended in 2011.

It also may embolden Russia to one day invade Israel as per the Ezekiel 38 Gog-Magog War. That and the fact that Israel is emerging as an oil-gas competitor.

Consider Ezekiel 38:13 (KJV): “Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?”

Who are Sheba, Dedan, and Tarshish?

  1. Sheba & Dedan
    • These were ancient tribes located in the Arabian Peninsula (modern-day Saudi Arabia or surrounding regions).
    • Some believe they represent Arab nations that remain passive when Israel is attacked.
  2. Merchants of Tarshish & Young Lions
    • Tarshish is often identified as a distant Western nation, possibly Spain or Britain.
    • The “young lions” may refer to nations descended from Britain (such as the U.S. and other Western allies).

What Does This Mean in Prophecy?

  • These nations do not fight against the invasion.
  • Instead, they merely question the motives of the attackers, asking if they have come to “take a spoil” (plunder Israel’s resources).
  • This suggests a scenario where Western nations and Gulf states do not intervene militarily but only express concern diplomatically.

Could Trump’s tacit approval of Russia be a set-up for this event? If so, how close are we to the Rapture? How close to: a new EU that leads to the Beast and Antichrist, foreshadowed by a few televised moments of candor. Will historians trace the start of the End Times Act III and WWIII and the acceleration of prophetic realizations to the Great TV Spat?
