On November 26, 1936, Herman and Lydia Lauster, with their children Walter and Mary, sailed from New York harbor for Cuxhaven (Hamburg), Germany, to establish the Church of God in that country. Seen here with their family about 1954, Herman and Lydia had emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1926. Coming in contact with the Church of God in Maryland, Herman was saved, baptized with the Holy Spirit, and ordained a bishop. He later recalled, “On the last day of September 1936….the Lord clearly spoke to me, ‘Now you go to Germany and preach full salvation to your people.’” (Quoted in Bill George, Until All Have Heard.)

Robert R Seyda’s father was instrumental in leading Herman Lauster into the Church of God in Maryland. He worked with Herman Lauster in germany and later Robert go involved with the German work and the European Seminary. Bro. Seyda preached the opening service at the Dachau Army Post Chapel for our Pentecostal Fellowship in 1967.
