It has been said that I have contributed “nothing positive” to this “open forum.” So I want to make sure that I do my part to contribute in a positive manner.
I was born and raised in the COG. I remember chewing on the backs of the old wooden pews. I remember Sunday night services where people would be on the floor in the altars for what seemed like hours crying out, while some being delivered, some being born again, some being healed. I remember powerful moves of the Holy Spirit. I remember the red back. I remember good Ole southern gospel groups having “singings” at our church. As a teenager I remember Church splits and attendance plummeted. I remember people in church cursing one another out and calling the cops. I remember the red headed pastor that came in at 29 years old and grabbed the bull by the horns and with the help of the Holy Spirit turn the ship around. I remember going from about 150 people from the split back up to over 500+. I remember that red headed pastor pouring into my life and helping me as I grew through the teenage years and prepared for ministry. I remember the sacrifice that his family made to fulfill the call of God on their lives. And to help fulfill the call of my home church. That red headed pastor and his humble compassionate wife spent 8 years at my home church. I learned a ton from them. I learned about integrity, humbleness, humility, compassion and having a pastors heart. That’s why I love and will defend Tim and Paula Hill to the end. They embody everything I love about the church. Now as a Ordained Bishop in that same Church I strive and hope that I can invest in it and help this church continue to embrace the harvest. For the sake of my 8 year old daughter, 4 year old son and 10 month old son, I will work to see that they too can help push this old Church into the next 100 years of success. I love this church. And I love our leaders of this church. You can think I’m negative if you wish for defending the honor of a Godly woman. But for me…..after all they have done for me……it’s the most positive thing I can do.
