A few days ago Charles introduced a book written by Rachel Evans and in general said that she was doing fundamentalist christians much harm and since the picture he posted showed a highly intelligent looking face and a graduate of Bryan College; he perked my attention.
I found the book on Amazon for only $1.70 + shp and so it has arrived. It’s true that Rachel asks some tough questions but it’s questions that pentecostals should have been asking all along. On pg.114 she struggles with the worlds eternal destiny, asking is it just ” luck of the draw ” depending on where and when you were born that determines whether you go to heaven or hell.?( Now don’t go giving all the old stock answers, for she had worked her way through all of them. )
Several years ago I had to deal with that issue when I was reading about a missionary in S.A. who had a flat tire and it took so long to get it fixed that he couldn’t preach that night at a mission church. The writer asked ; will people go to hell because of his flat tire? Will people go to hell just because they were born in a muslim country or in the jungles of the Amazon?
