Hello, Acts-celerate! I have some exciting news to share.

I was so encouraged last week by your loud and clear support for keeping this community a constructive place for fellowship, advice, and theological discussion that is free from unfounded gossip. To help us continue cultivating a community full of posts and comments that reflect that shared vision, I’m thrilled to announce an addition to our moderation team.

Please join me in giving a warm welcome to u/Warbird979!

Many of you already know him as a consistently thoughtful voice in our community. I invited him to join the team because he embodies the culture we are striving forβ€”one where topics are handled with grace and a spirit of godly fellowship. He has already brought so much wisdom and perspective to our discussions, and I’m excited that he will now be doing so in an official capacity.

Finally, a big thank you to each of you. This community is nothing without your voices and participation, and we’ll continue striving to make it a community you enjoy being a part of.

Someone told me today that they were unsure how to report a post or comment that breaks the rules. I’ve created some documentation here that will help explain how to do so.

Reporting A Post on New Reddit

Reporting a Reddit Comment on New Reddit

Reporting A Post on Old Reddit

Reporting a Reddit Comment on Old Reddit

Are there other things about Reddit that still confuse you? If so, let me know, and I’ll try to create some documentation to help you get it figured out!

The Lord has been dealing with me about the content of this board lately. Things have slid from reasonable discussion to straight up gossip. The thread I removed, specifically, cited information from a source that may or may not be credible. We don’t really know since it’s anonymous.

Since its inception, Acts-celerate has been accused of being a gossip rag. Doyle worked tirelessly to prove that wrong. He fought to keep our focus on the actions of church leaders as they pertain to the direction of the church, while diligently disallowing personal attacks. In my opinion, he did a great job of keeping this from becoming a gossip board. My core values align with his, and my desire is to continue cultivating a space where we can have difficult, necessary conversations without allowing them to devolve into the kind of speech that doesn’t honor the Lord.

Finding that line between gossip and accountability is difficult, but it is essential. The first wounds our witness; the second is a vital part of our integrity.

To that end, I also want to remind everyone of the rules. Please use initials when discussing individuals. But to be clear, using initials is not a license to gossip or launch personal attacks. The content of the post is what matters most, including both what is said and whether it can be corroborated.

I am also renewing my request that we all take ownership of this community’s health. Please continue to use Reddit’s voting system to elevate thoughtful discussion and downvote posts that stray from our culture. Beyond that, please be diligent in using the reporting system to bring posts that are straight gossip to my attention. I do check every single report.

The bottom line is that I want to run the type of reddit that I believe the Lord would want to read. And what it’s been lately isn’t it.
