One day this week I received a message via Facebook from a lady I knew back when I was in the corporate world. I had not heard from her in several years, and had not seen her on social media for a long time. Back in the day, I always tried to make sure…

I haven’t been on much in the last few days, but I noticed that someone who had posted a lot in the last couple of weeks has deleted his account and left.

Last week I had seen one of his posts and had responded with a annoyed tone, and we had a back and forth. On Sunday afternoon, I was thinking about it and thinking about him in particular. I do not know him personally. I have no idea who he is. Something didn’t sit right with me about the posts and conversations. It wasn’t the content, though that was unsettling, but it was something else that was bothering me about it. And it wasn’ as much about what he said. I sensed someting in my spirit. The Lord has put a burden for him on my heart that afternoon for him. I think there may be some cognitive decline, or something else going on with the gentleman who left. There is more to the story than meets the eye.

Please join me in praying for him.

The CoG Bishop posted on Facebook (5/17) a picture of his wife praying over boxes containing the credentials of ministers who have had theirs revoked. Here is the text of that post: "This was taken by someone during the altar service at MIP commis…

WE have a small congregation, but this Easter we had a pretty good crowd, probably 80+, normally 40-50. We finally got one grandson, wife and two sons in church that day, I was shocked and pleased. I accompanied the boys to children’s church since they had never been, and they really enjoyed it. The leaders were great. Later in the week I heard something like the pastor doesn’t care for people who don’t attend church a lot.

Since I wasn’t in the worship service I asked around. Yes, the pastor mentioned CECO’s ( something like that, talking about people who attend twice a year, maybe it was Christmas Easter Christians Only. Is there a cute name for those folks now. I am not sure if Matt and family (especially the wife) will ever be back. Why would anyone not try their best to encourage those there for their once or twice a year to want to come back? For Matt & family it is a no times a year. WE were so glad to get them there for ONE time. Hopefully it will happen again.

I am beginning to see why the community churches in our area are growing.

According to a recent Pew Research survey of 35 countries, 62% of people believe that “animals can have spirits or spiritual energies.” This includes 57% of Americans, 76% of those polled in Christian-majority Argentina, and 70% in Israel, the world’s only country with a Jewish majority.

According to Pew:

Many people around the world also believe that parts of nature (such as mountains, rivers or trees) can have spirits or spiritual energies. This belief is voiced by nearly three-quarters of adults in Christian-majority Chile (74%)…

The U.S. falls somewhere in the middle of the countries surveyed on these questions: 57% of U.S. adults believe that animals can have spirits, while 48% say the same about mountains, rivers or trees. (Around six-in-ten U.S. adults identify as Christian, and about three-in-ten are religiously unaffiliated.)

I also saw within the last few weeks a discussion on another reddit forum about whether pets go to heaven. It’s certainly not the first time I’ve heard that discussion in a smaller setting, but it was interesting to hear the differing opinions of people in a single setting.

What do you think? Do animals have spirits that go to heaven/will be part of the new earth? If so, are all animals “saved”? Is there any Scriptural support for the position other than the acknowledgement that there will be animals in heaven, or is your opinion based only on tradition and/or reason?
