Dr. Tim Hill Calls for “Day of Prayer” on July 12

Cleveland, TN: On behalf of the Church of God International Executive Committee, General Overseer Timothy M. Hill has issued a call for a Global Denominational Day of Prayer for the Church of God, this Sunday, July 12. He is asking for all pastors to set aside a time of focused prayer for the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected the Church of God around the world, and for the recent racial unrest in the United States.

“With each passing day, the statistics concerning the Covid-19 pandemic become more and more alarming. While this pandemic has impacted every corner of the globe and the Church of God family has experienced the effects of this virus in almost all the 185 countries where we have ministries, it seems as though recently the United States, and particularly a handful of states, has suffered the brunt of the outbreak. Just this week, we have seen record daily infection numbers, with the total number of cases surpassing 3 million and the death toll now approaching 130,000. In addition, the global economic impact of the virus is substantial and most likely will continue to be felt well after the virus is eradicated.

Further, recent racial tensions in the United States have also given the church the opportunity to promote and model racial reconciliation and parity in our local communities. The church must exercise this opportunity of leadership in promoting racial equality.

It is time once again for the church as a whole – and the Church of God specifically – to pray and seek the face of God for a healing in our land. I call on every Church of God pastor to set aside time with your congregation this Sunday, July 12, to pray for a healing around the globe. Only God can provide the healing that this world needs.”
