I seen where some churches have what they call “traditional services” verses “contemporary services.” Then many for years have labeled certain church services “old-fashioned” or else “modern.” I do not agree with any of these titles listed above. Friend, have you ever really thought about a church’s worship service? How it compares to God’s Word, the Bible? I sincerely believe that the book of Acts is the type of worship that God has outlined for us. I believe so strong in it that I get nothing from some worship services, and even at times, get turned off that I am disgusted and do not want to return to that local church when I am in a worship service in many of our “so-called” Pentecostal churches today. I believe Acts chapter 2 is a prime example of how our worship services should be. It continues on through the Book of Acts like chapter 8 when Phillip was preaching and the people gave heed unto him because of the things they heard and SEEN. When Peter and John arrived on the scene, the scripture state that while Peter was yet preaching, the Holy Ghost fell upon these Gentiles and here is how he described it, “AS ON US AT THE BEGINNING.” Peter referred back to Acts Chapter 2. We have Pentecostal preachers and churches that conduct special conferences on the subject of Pentecost. We have positive statements in our official teachings of our churches. Why, I believe some people might even want to fight you over their belief in the Pentecostal blessing. However, there are no gifts of the Spirit in operation, no great evangelism taking place in our churches, and to be quite honest with you, I sincerely think the Holy Ghost could be absent from our “so-called” Pentecostal services and no one, including the leaders of the local church, would even realized that He has left. My question is this: Are we fulfilling the Great Commission as given by Jesus Christ? I really don’t think so. Jesus said that we are to worship God in spirit and in truth.
