In the early sixties our Church of God at McMinnville,…

In the early sixties our Church of God at McMinnville, Tennessee, Locust Street, celebrated the Lord’s supper around a table spread in the sanctuary at the altar. There was a setting for with one seat remaining empty. Twelve were served and then twelve more until all had been served. Folk would tarry at the altar awaiting their time. It was a very subdued and sacred occasion. I can’t remember we doing it but once however it was beautiful to celebrate the Lord’s Supper.

And as always there was feet washing (foot washing) afterwards with men and women going to separate areas.

Anyone ever had the Lord’s Supper in this manner.

The picture is a pic of the Smithville Church of God, on the McMinnville district, celebrating the Lord’s Supper in the late 40s to early 50s. They worshiped in a temporary structure for a year awaiting the construction of their church building.
