Why the Bible is self authenticating. Why the Bible is infact the “proof for its claims.”

The Dead Sea scrolls prove the ancient authenticity of the Old Testament were written hundreds if not thousands of years before Christ. The Dead Sea scrolls were copied from the original hebrew texts between 350BC – 68 AD. Most of the copied texts after 1AD were Apocryphal.

The Dead Sea Scrolls along with the even more reliable Greek Septuagint texts (dated 300 -200BC) prove that the Old testament was written at least 200 years before Christ, though it is widely accepted that scripture is even more ancient than that. This is proof of a prophetic supernatural phenomenon that occured 2000 years ago with the 1st advent of Christ and resulted in the single greatest revolution of all time which, caused the fall of Roman Empire and established “the times of the Gentiles” through Christendom in honor of the hebrew Messiah Yeshua translated in greek – Jesus as prophesied. What cannot be dismissed is the facts of Old testament prophecy fulfillment in over 300 textual occurrences and subsequent written testemonies by many more than 12 witnesses and 3rd party testimonials in the New testament.

The Bible proves God because these stunning accuracies defy the laws of probabilities and chance to astronomical and incomprehensible proportions – proof of a supernatural entity superior in intellect manipulating human affairs and, this evidence is tangible because it can be seen with all eye’s – The Bible in all it’s glory – the written manifestation of God’s will. No other religion can boast such prophetic phenomenon to this degree. The 1st advent prophecies are not the only set of prophecies that have resulted in this kind of visible phenomenon in human history. Modern times have come with a complete set of Biblical fulfillment almost as astronomical in depth as the first advent prophecies.

1) “Within a fairly short time after their discovery, historical, paleographic, and linguistic evidence, as well as carbon-14 dating, established that the scrolls and the Qumran ruin dated from the third century B.C.E. to 68 C.E. They were indeed ancient! Coming from the late Second Temple Period, a time when Jesus of Nazareth lived, they are older than any other surviving manuscripts of the Hebrew Scriptures by almost one thousand years. Since their discovery nearly half a century ago, the scrolls and the identity of the nearby settlement have been the object of great scholarly and public interest, as well as heated debate and controversy. Why were the scrolls hidden in the caves? Who placed them there? Who lived in Qumran? Were its inhabitants responsible for the scrolls and their presence in the caves? Of what significance are the scrolls to Judaism and Christianity?” They prove the historical accuracy of the time lines to be more ancient than the 1st advent of Christ because they are Aramaic – hadmonean copies of the originals. “Copies” is the key word here.

2) “Septuagint – What is It?Septuagint (sometimes abbreviated LXX) is the name given to the Greek translation of the Jewish Scriptures. The Septuagint has its origin in Alexandria, Egypt and was translated between 300-200 BC. Widely used among Hellenistic Jews, this Greek translation was produced because many Jews spread throughout the empire were beginning to lose their Hebrew language. The process of translating the Hebrew to Greek also gave many non-Jews a glimpse into Judaism. According to an ancient document called the Letter of Aristeas, it is believed that 70 to 72 Jewish scholars were commissioned during the reign of Ptolemy Philadelphus to carry out the task of translation. The term “Septuagint” means seventy in Latin, and the text is so named to the credit of these 70 scholars.” Thus, the Dead Sea scrolls are simply an excellent source of validation that the septuagint is historical Old Testament text written before Roman times during the rise and fall of the Greek empire befor the Qumran settlement ever existed.

3) “Testimonia was found in Cave Four near the site of Khirbet Qumran near the shores of the Dead Sea.”

“This Qumran text includes five biblical quotations connected by interpretation. The first two quotations refer to the raising up of a prophet like Moses. The third quotation refers to a royal Messiah, the fourth to a priestly Messiah. The quotation from Joshua is connected to the coming of a time of great disaster, brought on by those dedicated to evil. The manuscript is usually dated to the middle of the first century B.C.E.” 50 years befor Christ and copied from copied manuscripts written some 250 years proir to that from Isiaha.

Messiah would present himself by riding on an ass: Zechariah 9:9. Messiah would be tortured to death: Psalm 22. Messiah would arrive before the destruction of the Second Temple: Daniel 9:24-27. Messiah’s life would match a particular description, including suffering, silence at his arrest and trial, death and burial in a rich man’s tomb, and resurrection: Isaiah 52:13-53:12.

This PROVES that the 1st advent was in fact a supernatural phenomenon that can only be linked to a real supernatural enity in control of it. It was not medeitated after the fact but, premeditated by more than 39 authors from ancient “before Christ” times. The fulfillments were executed with stuning nearly unfathomable accuracy so as to be impossible for any one human being to fullfil them completely. Only an omnipotent, omniscient, ominipresent intellectual being could manipulate human affairs so precisly according to pre-ordained pophets of “the All mighty God” or “the Most High God” in accordance with hebrew tradition.

So is the Bible True? Certainly the Bible is a remarkable book, unquestionably the world’s all-time bestseller with countless millions of copies in print. A single Bible distribution organization reported delivering over 627,000,000 Bibles worldwide in one year alone (United Bible Societies, 1999). Actually, the Bible is a compilation of 66 books written by over 40 separate authors from a variety of backgrounds (from lowly peasants to noble kings) over a period of at least 1,600 years. These 66 books are divided in two principle parts, the “Old Testament” (39 books) and the “New Testament” (27 books). The Bible was completed in its entirety nearly 2,000 years ago and stands today as the best-preserved literary work of all antiquity with over 24,000 ancient New Testament manuscripts discovered thus far. Compare this with the second best-preserved literary work of antiquity, Homer’s Iliad, with only 643 preserved manuscripts discovered to date.

So the Bible – God’s word – is historically acurate, proof of the supernatural phenomenon of God in human affairs. This is truly a remarkable acheivement of a Deity and not humankind.

Truly an all powerfull God. It can be denied, but it can’t be refuted. Truly extraordinary evidence for an extraordinary claim that Jesus is Lord! Amen!
