Exegesis as method of studying scripture. I see a potential problem with use of only exegesis in study of scriptures. And that is, it can be used to promote the view that Jewish heritage, via blood descent from Abraham and Jacob, is a prerequisite for salvation. Hey apologists, why are there so many religions? What can the church do to respond? What can we learn from history and Scripture about it? Who or what are the gods of other religions? »
Something I always noticed that made the Bible differ from other ancient texts: exaggeration. The Bible doesn’t say a beetle rolls the sun across the sky. It says God created the sun and put it in orbit for signs and seasons. Even the idea of attempting to join those other religions makes me cringe. That’s my argument.
