Many years ago, four young boys grew up in a rural Pentecostal setting in the deep-south. They attended a small Assembly of God church.  All four were raised in homes or among relatives, who were committed Christians. The boys were reared in the church and connected to Christian faith.

 

The families were musically gifted both in singing and playing musical instruments, especially the piano.  All four boys, who were mostly related as cousins, took to the piano, some by watching others play. Their style was not the “normal church sound,” but contained a little jazz and blues.  As time passed, two of the boys became strong followers of Christ, while the two cousins went into the field of a new type of music called Rock and Roll. These two men were Mickey Gilley and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Back from England

Bishop Denis McGuire and I have just returned from Birmingham, England, were I was a guest speaker at the New Testament Church of God Convention.  This was an amazing experience and the services were charged with the anointing of the Holy Spirit.  Many of the individual families had come to England in the 1960’s from the Islands such as Jamaica, to work and rebuild England, especially after the war.
