The Church of God credentialed J.W. and Mattie Buckalew, here with children, Colie and Grace, as a Bishop and Evangelist, respectively, on February 20, 1910. Having been a member of another church he reported, “I was in ‘good standing and full fellowship’ with the denomination until I quit drinking and gambling, then they preferred charges against me because I received the blessing of sanctification according to the Bible. Heb. 13:12-14.”
