The current faulty view of the Church of God (for those who do not follow the Declaration of faith in practice) rest upon the same error as do the Calvinist and all other progressive evangelicals. They misinterpret Romans 9 in that the potter keeps forming the soft clay with his hands for the duration of one’s life on earth. It is in a continual state of being formed.
That is a false assumption, rather the clay takes form in the potters hands and is dried and placed into the furnace. Eventually there is a serviceable formed vessel for service.
The pottery formation is not about regeneration/new birth it is about the forming of a serviceable and honorable vessel.
It is sanctification, a work brought to completion after the new birth/regeneration. There is no on-going never-ending-till-death process. It is entire and complete and the vessel is moved on to service. It becomes hardened. It is critical that the vessel is used for service, some more honorable than others but used for a purpose.
