What a Blessed Time….
Hi Folks,
Been a bit busy to blog recently, spending most of my time preparing for meetings in Dingwall! What a blessing it is to prepare and then lead the meetings at Dingwall, I feel shattered but I'm loving every minute.
I'm just talking a break now, and about to start some prep for the Bible study on Wednesday night. We are looking at James on a Wednesday evening, we are taking our time but we'll get there.
The messages are taking quite a while to prepare, having to do one every week is hard work but again great fun and so rewarding. My admiration for you, Pastor Dave, although high already, is growing....two in a week!!
On a Sunday we are looking at the individual responsibility of the believer in relation to their walk with the Lord - how our thoughts and choices have a huge impact on us.
The main text we are coming out of is Philippians 4v4-13, I only managed to get as far as looking at verse 4 last week and preached on that verse on Sunday. My studies lead me to Habakkuk however, to a superb piece of Scripture -
Hab 3:17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
Hab 3:18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Hab 3:19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.
How awesome is that?! Even in the dire straights he was in he managed to rejoice and praise his God, even in the face of starvation and destitution he rejoiced in his God. FANTASTIC!! What an example!
How can we moan and gripe when we are faced with trials and testing times? We face nothing like that faced by Habakkuk. We face nothing like that faced by Paul, who called his trials and temptations a "light affliction" - and what a list they were!!
Rejoice in the Lord during good and hard times, praise Him, concentrate and meditate on Him and on His promises and truths, meditate on His Word.........and your outlook and your life will be changed!
