When God Moves the Target
““When life changes, you need to change with it.”

Here’s a confession from a control freak…
A couple days ago I took a call that ended up lasting almost an hour. It completely ruin my day.
Since I’m confessing, I must admit that I like to schedule every minute of my work day. You know the drill: plan your work and work your plan. That’s me!
But, life seldom works that way. As the saying goes: We plan, God laughs.
He was definitely laughing the other day.
I said that hour long call ruined my day – well that was true for awhile. But then I reminded myself that I don’t have the luxury of putting every minute of my life under lock and key. I’m not sovereign, God is.
Most days the best any of us can do is set a general direction by identifying a very limited number of mission critic tasks that must be done and then take life as it comes.
I’m glad to report that this story ends on a happy note. Turns out that having a win for that day included losing an hour towards what I thought I should be doing. Thankfully, God had other plans and thankfully I took that call.
The ONE THING for today: Planning your day is like target practice: Ready! Aim! Fire! Do that by all means. Plan, prepare and head in the direction you think you should go. But don’t be surprise if God moves the target.
