When Your Heart Tells You Not Too

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

My dear VPGs,

Trusting God with all your heart will be one of the great challenges of your life.

Your greatest enemy will be your own pride – “lean not on your own understanding”.

The way you see it (your understanding) will be connected to your fears and desires. It will also be connected to getting your way on your terms and on your schedule.

But God’s ways are different. The way He sees it is from eternity to eternity – from the beginning to the end.

He understands what is best for you both now and in the future. He is always setting you up for something better (if you will trust Him).

Not only that, He is also taking into account what is best for everyone else in the world. All who are alive now and who are yet to be born. (Amazing isn’t it?)

Trusting in the Lord with all your heart is hard! Your heart tell you to fear, to hoard, to try to fit in so you can be accepted (even when you know it is not best).

Your heart will want to love people who are not good for you and reject others who are.

Bottom line, your hearts will betray you (Jeremiah 17:9). But God never will. You can trust Him and that’s the truth.

Love, Papa

As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

2 Samuel 22:31

Prayer: Abba Father, help me to trust you! Give me the courage to obey even when I don’t understand and especially when my heart tells me not too.
