What are your guy’s thoughts on abortion? Now I know this subject has been debated for quite some time, but I was just thinking.

Me personally I’m pro life, forever. However, two things I can’t get around is:

1. If the woman was raped, how could a pro-lifer have a justified/rational response?

2. If the woman were raped, but in this case through incest?

How would a christian(s deal with these types of situations?

  1. Bri Lynn says:

We aren’t to repay evil for evil, and the baby is innocent so why punish them? That’s my reasoning.

  2. Nick Prodromou says:

the answer to both is the innocence of the baby

  3. Alan Parsons says:

You can’t use rape cases as justification for all abortions

  4. Jeremy Brown says:

We don’t pervert justice by murdering an innocent child. if anyone should die the rapist get the death penalty.

  5. Erinda van Zyl says:

I don’t know what it is like to be in those situations, but with my current perspective I would say the baby is still half of the mother’s DNA and it does not sit right with me to kill an imager of YHWH’s (which we all are) in either case. I cannot see why the babies must be killed.

  6. Jeremy Brown says:

There is no debate amongst Christians. if you support murder in any instance, you are not consistent at all with any of the teachings of Christ particularly not loving our neighbor, nor not murdering.

In reality rape is never an acceptable justification for murder. Nor is incest. And if someone has educated themselves on the subject, then they know that the life of the mother claim is also a non-argument

  7. Nancy Walker Childers says:

I met a woman last year with her 16 year old daughter. Her daughter was the result of a rape. She gave her testimony and said she never considered abortion because she couldn’t respond to evil with evil, and she said people act like having an abortion makes the memory of the abortion go away. It doesn’t. She said she knows God will do great things in her daughter’s life.

  8. Duane L Burgess says:

Murder is murder. There are options for unwanted children.

  9. Connie Lee-Anne says:

Rape does not justify abortion. The woman has already suffered 1 trauma and an abortion adds a second trauma to deal with.

  10. Anthony Todd says:

Don’t punish a child for their parents actions

  11. Sherri Scott says:

The baby shouldn’t be punished because of sin. If the woman doesn’t want the baby then she can give it up for adoption to a family wanting a baby but can’t.

  12. William Clark says:

I completely understand your OP, I really do. I’ll be honest in saying I don’t have any answers to this. I can’t even imagine how difficult this is for any woman who’s experience this type of trauma. I DO know that God can use this as a powerful testimony, but that testimony does NOT negate that the trauma experience and I really wish many believers would acknowledge this. JMHO. It’s so easy for someone to draw a conclusion when they’ve NEVER experienced this kind of trauma and I’m honestly ashamed of some responses that I see. Rape is a trauma that I can’t even imagine. The though of someone violating me to the point of forcing themselves to penetrate a part of my body for their own twisted and dimented satisfaction is beyond anything I can comprehend. They should honestly have their balls cut off, JMHO. We can talk about the baby all we want, but I notice that not many responses actually deal with the issue of the new mother who’s forced to be reminded of this reprehensible attack every time they look at their child, regardless of blessing or not. I’m only being a honest as I can be.

  13. William Clark says:

Some actually attempt to “shield” themselves from the reality of what rape actually is and that’s disgusting. For those strong enough to embrace the child as a creation and miracle of God, I can’t salute you fast enough, but there are those who cannot and they’re scarred for the rest of their lives

  14. Romualdo Venturanza says:

    1. The child in the womb is not a rapist. That baby is another human being, a member of the human race with all the rights of any human being.

  15. Carolyn Ann says:

Rape is abominable. But: Abortion is murder. If a woman or girl is raped and becomes pregnant there is a life created – we don’t right a wrong by doing more wrong. We don’t kill her child just because it came from rape. There are women out there who raised their child conceived from rape and do not regret it. That child is an innocent. They are a victim too.

  16. Curtis Todd says:

Right, I think the same thing. In terms of killing the baby to make no difference or ease of the situation nor it be the right option first and foremost. Just didn’t know how to elaborate on a reason as to why. Thanks for the input

  17. Jon Miller says:

Raised with an Religious background. Don’t practice any religion, but am on the Good Deeds road. #goodsamaritan. My answer, prolife is my first priority. As rape, incest, etc. I always encourage adoption. If abortion was performed, I’ll always love the person, and not cast judgement. Love, respect, and acceptence goes long way with trying to understand, and relate to others. #compassion

  18. Aaron Miller says:

Not your life, not your right to take it. If you take that life, you have committed murder. It doesn’t matter the situation.

  19. Jeremy Blatchford says:

Abortion is abortion. A child is a child. The manner of conception is irrelevant.

  20. Olivia Tyler says:

If the woman were raped, in either case, the two answers are the same:

    1. The baby is a gift from God, meant to make something good out of something bad. People will scorn her as the victim. Her child will grow to love and tend her when others do not.

    2. The child did nothing to her. The baby should not be punished for the father’s sin. If the child were a few years old, would it be considered ethical to kill the child because Daddy suddenly decided to abuse Mommy? No. Same point.

  21. Janis Jop-Lynne says:

    Finish the sentence:
It is ok to kill a baby when……

  22. Lisa Tilley says:

Rape is a tiny percent of the abortions in this country. And regardless of the way the child was conceived, why punish the unborn tiny human for the sins of the father and/or mother? Why does the baby have to die for a jerk raping the mother? Even in the case of incest. The baby did nothing wrong to have to suffer the brutal death that is murder.

  23. Josie Tiscareno says:

    Abortion is murder!

I hate it. God hates murder!

I wish they never had abortion services as an escape for scary fearful wretched sinners like myself in the past. God have mercy on me and all the one’s who are falling into that most disgusting and hateful form of evil ?

    It’s evil

  24. Aaron Jones says:

Supreme Court has ruled that death penalty for rapist is cruel and unusual punishment. How can we then say that the innocent child who is a product of rape deserves to die?

  25. Tom Salamone says:

How is that the baby’s fault? In either case, it’s still wrong to abort/kill the baby.

    1. The taking of innocent human life is wrong
    2. Abortion is the taking of innocent human life
    3. Therefore abortion is wrong

  26. Wesley Dover says:

Many of the answers have been discussed here, but in summation, I would say:

    1) The baby is designed in the image of God.
    2) We don’t make children pay for their fathers’ sins.
    3) We don’t execute people based on deformity or illness.
    4) The fetus is a unique human being, with its own unique human DNA.
    5) Children deserve the chance at life.

  27. Bethany Lindsey says:

As a victim of sexual assault and a pro-lifer I’ll say this, I didn’t get pregnant as a result of rape, however I think “what if”, and while it would be so hard to carry a baby that was a result of a horrendous act I’m left with knowing that there are unplanned pregnancies but no unplanned life. God plans for every life on earth, even if we don’t. Life is so so precious and there are couples who would love to adopt a baby, regardless of its conception (incest or rape).

    Hope this helps ?

  28. Lyn Zee says:

My answer to both questions: at the point of conception a light has been placed in that living being; His light. This living being was made in His image.

My question to you: Do we destroy it merely because of circumstance?

  29. Michael Schipper says:

One thing I would say, what the guy did was absolutely wrong and should be punished. But why punish the baby for what their dad did?

  30. Lydia Anne Martin says:

Why punish the baby? The baby didn’t do anything. Nothing is justifiable for an abortion.

  31. Jeffrey Harrell says:

Those 2 scenarios are less than 1% of all abortions. And they still don’t justify the murder of the baby. That baby did nothing wrong

  32. Kate Jo says:

Abortion is still murder either way… and the majority of abortions aren’t even because of those two things.

  33. Skarlet Pike says:

Should we kill the child for the sins of the parent? I say no.

Like, if it’s okay to kill the unborn child of a rapist, then it’s equally fine to kill the 10 year old child of a rapist. Suddenly, your line of descent is very, very important to your value as a person and your rights to stay alive.

I think that every baby is valuable and lovable, worth protecting.

The father, though, the one who committed rape or incest – they deserve death, and can be tracked down through the DNA of the child, and they should get the death penalty.

  34. Nicholas Wallace says:

I have the same questions, also included:

    1. If a woman had a high chance of dying during child birth and she had small kids at home.

    2. If the woman was extremely active in drug addiction or alcoholism which we now know needs treatments as it diseases the brain, enabling anyone in the condition to be fit for making decisions or operating in a rational fashion.

In such cases I always think of Jesus when he did things that appeared and were unlawful, touching lepers, not washing hands, healing on Sabbath, etc. I feel that laws are here to guide and help keep us safe not to harm us. And because we live in a fallen world we must have conscience and reason enough, use critical thinking ability to consider “Yes we know this is law, but in this case putting it before all situations may not be fitting.”
Therefore I have made a conscience decision to agree with pro life of course, but also to be up for consideration in each case depending it’s circumstances.

Especially in the case of a mother dying in childbirth when she has little ones at home. We say life deserves a chance and that is why the babies should always be born, but in this case which life is it? If mom dies so many life’s will be negatively impacted forever, whereas if the pregnancy were terminated, the impact would literally be far less. And I know it is uncomfortable at any time to consider, but we must be stronger than this.
God flooded the entire earth to rid it of the diabolical evil and left just eight people for the chance at life. No, we are not in His position nor do we have the intelligence, but He gave us enough and that is why Jesus said “Is it right to let a man die to observe the Sabbath?” He meant that we should think!!! And sometimes that’s meant getting past laws and uncomfortable things to do what is right by life and it’s current circumstances.
Another thing that troubles me is Christians trying to regulate the world when we are to be no part of it. We should be only regulating ourselves and teaching others with kindness and patience not sticks and protest!!!
When do Israel ever go into Rome and demand they do things God’s way? Getting mixed up in world affairs is going to come back on us.

  35. Ken Abbott says:

Y’all are debating over less than 2% of abortions. Get to the real issue.

  36. Rick Holtsclaw says:

Abortion is murder of life in the womb and a civilized society should never murder a child for the crime of the child’s father (rapist). Subsequent to Roe/73, America has mutilated 61-million babies in the womb and this has ultimately resulted in God’s curse upon the American people. God hates the hands that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17).

  37. Bob Hawkins says:

If the woman was raped by a stranger, the baby deserves to die?

If the woman was raped by a family member, the baby deserves to die?

  38. Garry Wienhurst says:

    it’s murder

  39. Garry Wienhurst says:

Rapists don’t even get the death penalty. Time for the Left to start getting consistent with their own world view.

Secondly, they use this rape argument which makes up less then 1% of all abortions as their justification to kill off 99.9% of all the rest. So i don’t take this augment seriously.

  40. Dwight Osborne says:

the word of God never approves of murder and the abortion of an unborn baby is murder. So it seems that you’re saying one sin makes it ok to commit another sin. There’s no wonder the country, indeed even the church, is in such a mess today

  41. Tommy S. Hancock says:

Ninety-three percent of abortion are performed for none of the reasons you list.

  42. Linda Ann Wolfenbarger says:

How is it the baby’s fault his mother was raped by anybody–relative or not. It’s the guilty party that should be punished, not tear the baby apart limb by limb. Where’s the justice in that?

  43. Kim Churchman says:

If the woman was me I’d carry the baby and then place her into the arms of an adoptive couple. The baby hasn’t doe anything to deserve death yet

  44. Curtis Todd says:

Well because I simply don’t understand how it’s justifiably moral to kill life based off of two people’s conscious poor sexual decisions, whilst knowing the possible outcomes of those situations, wether it be silly drunken sex, or conscious decisions, taking a life based off of a couples inconvenience doesn’t make sense to me, let alone how horrible it is.

  45. Kaylyn Homyak says:

Check out Live Action or Lila Rose. Great resources for this topic especially! Basically, how a baby is conceived does not determine its value. Yes, rape is very very very traumatic, and for many women that trauma is too much, and so I would recommend adoption in those cases. These women need to be supported and shown compassion, love, healing, etc. They need to find different kinds of therapy or something to help them heal. But abortion will not do that. Abortion often brings along more trauma, more grieving. Not to mention, the baby has no control over how it was conceived. The baby is still a unique human life, and should not be punished for the father’s sins. We don’t even give rapists life in prison or anything… We need to change how rapists are dealt with in the legal system first. I would look into testimonies of women who either were conceived in rape or whose babies were. Very touching stories. Incest is harder for me to speak about, but I would say to follow the same logic. A baby is a unique, innocent life, with a genetic code all its own that will never be present in another life again (I’m pretty sure that’s how genetics work at least), and abortion will always result in the taking of an innocent life. Therefore it is always wrong. It’s a hard subject for sure but you have to examine your logic and apply it across the board. Murder is murder no matter how you try to justify it.

  46. Kenneth Blankenship says:

It’s not the child’s fault that the mother was raped. The child was innocent.

  47. Carter Keller says:

Hey, I don’t know if you are still checking this post, and I know this is a sensitive topic. I’m patching together a book over long term on it. I will say a couple thing others may have said already. First, who is guilty if the rape? The child certainly is not. So the child should not receive the punishment. Also, people think abortion will erase a woman’s experience and allow her to move on. What woman, in fact what person ever, will ever forget something that horrible happening? The answer is none. Abortion does not solve anything, it only makes a hard situation more difficult, complicated and painful. Anyone who suffers rape needs love, support, and to be cherished and comforted. They need to know it isn’t their fault, it isn’t okay, but God is still good, life will still be lived, and there will be a day in Heaven, beyond time and out of this world, where in the presence of God this evil will be forgotten. As for their baby, the baby is made in the Image of God, and has value and dignity all its own. Even though the evil action was evil, I believe children are a blessing, and no matter how difficult or complicated life may be made from the single tragic act, the life which is made from it can, in a sense, bring comfort that even in the worst and darkest places, the light of God’s greatest gift will prevail.

  48. Denise Beck says:

Would someone kill you because of the sins of your father?

  49. Curtis Todd says:

I think many christians unfortunately have differing opinions it seems when it comes to the start of conception.

Now this is just in regards to consensual sex, but I’ve settled my opinion on this, if a christian couple are to have unprotected sex, with an ejaculation in the vagina, then that should be at the point where you leave the rest to god? If christians couples are to knowingly have unprotected sex then wether the wife falls pregnant shouldn’t matter because they knowingly understood the possible outcomes of their actions?
