   The Mastery of the Bible is the key to convince others of God… Without it we cannot bring the lost to the fold.

   Unfortunately, many Christians I met have weak bible background and is more of the feel good type of Christian… When you engage them, as iron Sharpens another iron, they tend not to stand ground on their beliefs. Will simply charge you with all the fallacy created.

   The word of God is a two edged sword that can harm even the weak armored and weak breast plated Christian. So i endeavor a lot to strengthen these Christians but only few seems to respond. Many are still drinking spiritual milk and maturity cannot be discerned.

   So, be a strong Christian. Master the Bible. We do not need to read what weak in faith reads… We need them to get to read the bible.

   Do not read the book… Read the bible more… Get that person to Hear the word of God as Faith comes from hearing and hearing the word thru Christ. God bless brother.

   I’m not familiar with the book but Russell’s argument is strange, since no Christian argues this is the best possible world, not even the pre-Fall world. If he’s essentially bringing up the problem of evil and suffering, then your friend needs to show that God can’t have morally sufficient reasons for permitting the evil and suffering in the world, and no one can shoulder that burden.

   I haven’t read the book but it sounds like a good reading. Reading and studying the Holy Scripture is essential for a Christian that loves the Lord Jesus Christ but it is also very important to grow in knowledge, meaning sciences, in order to give testimony and defend the Gospel against unbelievers, lukewarm Christians, scholars, etc… The Bible proves science and science proves the Bible so they go hand in hand.
   I would personally will look into the upbringing of the author and his education in order to understand his point of view. Then tell your friend why the author’s point of view goes against the Bible’s sound teachings, Biblical archeology, biblical psychology, etc…
   Basically, is the Bible’s teaching and God given sciences against the author’s psychological, emotional and spiritual state of being.

   Russell has also said that “if you don’t believe in God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” He was correct about that.
