Yo I been seeing a lot of people say there is no rapture. What is being “caught up to meet the Lord in the air” passage about?

Not that there’s ‘no rapture.’ But rather it’s not a pre-trib rapture

The argument against it is due to different definitions. Most people are talking past each other on this topic. You are equating the “raptizo” as being taken to Heaven and most likely believe a 7 year trib to start then. The dispensationalists view point.
Others believe the “caught up to meet the Lord in the air” is a side note at His coming but the resurrection of the dead is the main idea. Some think at that point that the saints are gathered but not necessarily taken to heaven.The template in Mt 24 is that of Noah in the ark. If that template follows then it’s the lost that are taken away, and the godly are taken up off the earth in the ark (Noah’s family) and are protected through God’s wrath.
So there’s more moving parts than just quoting 1 Thes 4 and see a part of your belief there and think that it somehow says the entire “left behind” story…it doesn’t.

It means the Lord gathers those who have already died. They are not waiting around for those who are still alive. The Lord has come for them and has them in His care — they are with Him.

The Rapture (from the Greek word έκσταση, ekstasi) is a term used to describe the physical resurrection of the Church which many expect to take place in the Last Days. In the rapture, the dead in Chris will be called first followed by the living in Christ. We will be “caught up” together in the air to meet Christ the bridegroom. Then after 7 years of tribulation on earth, God will appear with his heavenly host to establish his kingdom on earth for 1,000 years ending with the battle of the Armageddon and then the final judgement of humanity to everlasting punishment in the lake of Fire with Satan will take place.

The Bible teached a pre-Tribulation rapture. As for “Caught up”, the Greek word is, “Harpazo”, and the Latin translation of harpazo, is “Raptureus”, And the English translation for, raptuerus, is “Rapture”. We will meet Jesus in the air and He will take us to Heaven for seven years.

Caught up in the air is summarised by the word rapture. Some think it is associated with the secret rapture theory and so avoid the term, but there is still technically a rapture even for those who believe Jesus will come as he went, visibly.

I was misunderstood. I heard most the different teachings about “end days”, and disagree with most of you. I was strictly addressing those who do not believe in the rapture. Scripture teaches amillenialism, but even then there is a rapture. Who does not believe in the rapture that can explain 1 Thesalonians 4:16-5:2?

“Caught up in the air” describes how believers will greet the Lord. When a great King arrives at a city, he is not left to come up to the gate and knock: “I’m here . . . Hello. . . “. Rather, a greeting party goes out to meet the honored guest.
Believers will go out to greet the Lord – and welcome Him back to reign forever. He will NOT stop, and ultimately do a U-turn and abscond with a few believers back from whence He came.

the Greek word apantao is
the word used in the phrase “meet the Lord in the air” It is always used in the sense of the people of a town or city leaving the town to usher back into the town or city an important dignitary upon his arrival. Never would the people have a such a
meet and greet and afterwards abandon their cities by going elsewhere with said dignitary which is what the non-biblical perversion of this event called the “rapture” (a word which is no where mentioned in the Bible) implies.
A prime example of an apantao is when Jesus came to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives riding on the colt of a donkey the people left Jerusalem and greeted King Jesus with palm branches. This was Jesus’ first apantao. When He returns in power and glory as the Resurrected King which will be His final apantao. He will bring with Him the many believers who have died in Him and those who are still alive at His coming will meet “apantao” with them in the air and usher Him back to earth where as the King will judge both the living and the dead and thus the Bride (His Church) will be united with her Groom )King Jesus) forever.
And that is the hope that Paul says we are to encourage those who have
lost loved ones in Christ with. -

We’ll just have to explain it to them on the way up. This is not a doctrine to divide over, but is good to discuss. I believe all sides have evidence, I just believe the bulk of the evidence supports the rapture.

That passage is talking about the second coming. When Christ returns we will meet him in the air and then return to the earth and live with him for eternity. It’s like someone comes to visit you. You go outside your house to greet them and then return to your house with them. It’s the welcoming committee.

Those who belong to Him will be caught up to meet him upon His triumphant return, and accompany Him as He reclaims His earthly kingdom!

Those are two different events. First the rapture of the church will occur. That’s when chaos will rule because there will be no Jesus (or Holy Spirit) in the world. Then, Jesus will come with all the saints (me and you), this known as the “second coming.” I can give you scriptures but im a bit busy right now. Lol!

The “catching away” of believers who are alive on the earth to meet the Lord in the air is biblical. It is the timing of this event that is in question.

The rapture as a catching up of the saint is not in question. It is when and if the is just one or more.
