Children goes to school in uniforms. On their uniform is a school badge. On the school badge are symbols, icons and a motto.
Passersby seeing the badge goes “Ah, this child goes to that school.

Water baptism is like that badge. There’s death, burial and resurrection for its symbols. The motto is Unity & Love.
Passersby seeing your baptism goes “Ah, this child is a follower of Jesus.

It isn’t necessary for salvation. But it’s a public declaration of your will to be an ambassador of our Lord. That’s it.

    I like this example. It is an outward visible sign of an inner spiritual truth.

    But you cannot be a student without wearing the uniform either. If you’re going to school, it is mandatory to wear the school uniform. There are exceptions but the standard rule is. If you’re a student of that school, you are mandated to wear that uniform while attending school.

    Acts 2 38 says baptism in Jesus name remits past sins. Dont believe modern tv evangelists that say baptism is only for show. Jesus asked the pharisees…the baptism of John…was it of heaven or of men?

    My question is how then…

    HOW DOES A PERSON GET INTO CHRIST if Salvation (2tit 2:10) and heavenly blessing (does 1:3) are in Christ?

    Provide scriptures please.

    I like this example.
    I often use the simile of a wedding ring… the ring isn’t what makes me married, and I still would be if I took it off, but it is a crucial aspect of my personal, interpersonal (my husband and I) and public expression of my commitment to my husband.

    In the spiritual context, we add the aspect of obedience – if Jesus asks it of me, how dare I refuse?
