Contentment In the Now

Contentment In the Now

contentment

Dissatisfaction happens often when you find yourself preoccupied with the past and over focused on the future. At least that’s been my experience in life. Many Christ followers find themselves not content. Many look back at the past and have a longing to go back somewhere to a great time in their life. When that doesn’t do it for them, they look with a great and sometimes unhealthy yarning toward the future.

Please don’t misunderstand me; there is nothing wrong with a look back at the past, and there is certainly nothing wrong with a look toward the future. The point is not to allow them to rob you of the blessing of the now. When you find yourself trapped in an unhappy NOW, don’t miss the blessing of listening to God and seeking where He is trying to work in you life, by allowing the past and the future to steal away your focus.

Don’t miss out on the possibilities of the present, by running from the NOW in your life. Paul wrote in Philippians 4:11, “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.? I love this verse. Contentment will keep you focused on the NOW, if you will submit to it.

Don’t become discontented with your life. Life doesn’t have to be lived that way. You don’t have to tirelessly look for the future, and you don’t have to looked back hoping it could return to how it once was. This very moment God has gifted you a new answer if you will just open it. The gift is contentment.

Contentment is from God. Contentment is not based on circumstances of life. Contentment is based on the goodness and faithfulness of God working in and through your life. In fact, contentment is a sign you have true humility. Embrace this day and live it to its fullest. You can live life to the fullest no matter what the weather conditions of your soul is. Its been said, “For after all, the best thing one can do when it is raining is let it rain.”

We must remember that life is a gift from God and not a right. Live your gift in the NOW, rejoice over the past and let the future break upon the shores of your soul with gladness.
